Lovely ship, outstanding food, smaller cabins than the smaller HAL ships, good itinerary, but consider a different class of ship if sailing for scenic cruises...AK, Panama Canal, Norway Fjords, etc. Not many good viewing areas. Great music venues, lovely facilities overall, but as photographers, not for us.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Because of Covid, it was a different embarkation: had to test and wait for results (due to HI), no preferential treatment for 5* or Neptunes.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Restaurants were excellent. Dutch Cafe a huge plus. Rudy's Sel de Mere was outstanding but serves way too much food. Pinnacle was excellent as always. Lido was very good.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
We didn't participate in any on board activities...preferred to read in our cabin.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Fantastic lectures for wildlife and astronomy the weeks we were on board. Also the stage entertainment was very good.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Excellent service from Laundry to Lido...as usual for HAL!
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Ship is beautiful, but the Promenade Deck is lacking for anyone wanting to see views. I would not recommend this class (Pinnacle) ship for any scenic area like AK, Panama Canal, Norway, etc. The older, smaller ships are much better! Otherwise the ship is beautiful...just not totally functional!
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Neptune Suite that was very nice and comfortable. Architects still don't seem to find a way to get showers to not leak out the door. Tub didn't have a shower over it, so couldn't use that like in other ships. Mattress was a bit harder than usual on HAL ships (we thought).
Ship tip
If you're going to AK, Panama Canal, or other scenic area, I'd advise looking at the Eurodam, Nieuw Amsterdam, etc. to be able to walk on the covered Promenade for viewing scenery.
Have visited Maui several times and have taken the Trilogy Trimaran many times, so did again to see whales...not as close as we've had before, but a good excursion.
Appreciate your feedback. I am disappointed with the trend of bigger ship and smaller cabin. Glad you enjoyed your cruise in spite of the class of ship.
