Review summary

The Koningsdam is the first new Holland America Line in the Pinnacle Class.  What a beautiful ship full of wondeful yet sublime palate  of colors.  The musical theme throughout the ship is art at sea.  The service staff at all levels represent to me the HAL that I fell in love with.  The cuisine on board at all venues were of a world class ocean liner.  The Market Place buffet on the Lido Deck was absolutely delightful and varied every day.  I appreciated the fact that fellow passengers could not serve themselves at the buffet.  HAL staff served whatever I wanted in portions that were just the right amount.  This ship fits well with veteran cruisers and is a wonderful start for new cruisers.  It is not a ship for families with children.  The demographic is varied and the services afforded to every cruiser is right on target.  Both the embarkation  and debarkation were efficient, quick and NON stressful. The Captain of the ship is wonderful and a great communicator.  Half Moon Caye was a delightful surprise.  Way beyond our expectations.  The standard shower in each cabin was the best I have ever had.  Everyone loved the large showers and the storage space available.  Our next cruise on the Koningsdam will be a two week back to back!  Wonderful cruise!  Cheap Cruises made this booking very seamless!

Thanks for sharing your cruise.

There are usually never many children on any holland America cruise. Although they do have an area just for kids, Hal's club, the majority of people are probably 60+ and the general mood is more sophisticated rather than party boat.

can I ask why you feel it's not a ship for families with children?
