We enjoyed the cruise but didn't care to be in St. John's overnight. The weather was not good when we were there.

Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Our servers in the main dining room, Pritam and Juliani were great! The food in the main dining room was wonderful and the food in Giovanni's and Chops was excellent. Breakfast in the Windjammer was very good and the omelette station was the best. We only ate lunch a couple of days in the Windjammer and the food was good, but there were so many Asian and foreign dishes, which we don't care for.

The shows in the theater were good, but not as good as we've seen on some of the other ships.

Service and Staff
4 out of 5
The dining room staff and room stewards gave us excellent service. We had good experience with the employees that were taking my husband on and off the ship by wheelchair, except in Portland and departing the ship in Boston. There was no wheelchair assistance in Portland, getting on or off the ship. My husband had to stand a very long time while we waited for immigration to come on board there to clear everyone getting off. Then he had to walk with his cane down the very long and steep gangway to get off for our tour and then back on. His legs were hurting him so bad. It was a long way to the buses also once we got off the gangway. Then when we went to get off the ship in Boston, the area for wheelchair assistance off was packed and the Royal employee was calling people to get off by the numbers that were given to us in our cabin. The employee was not very friendly. We had all our luggage and just needed to get off for a tour that my husband wanted to take at Fenway Park. We only had an hour to get there since they cut the tours off 3 hours before the games start and there was a game there that afternoon. We didn't have time to wait an hour or 2 to get off the ship, so he had to walk all the way on the winding gangway and then all the way around and out of the building. He could hardly walk the rest of the day and we couldn't do any more sight-seeing because of it. I lost $100 that I had paid ahead of ttime for the sight-seeing bus because he was hurting too bad to go anywhere. It was very disappointing.

Cabin / Stateroom

We ended up getting a pop-out cabin right by the elevator, which was great! We had a huge balcony and we had breakfast out there 2 mornings. We didn't have much noise at all in the cabin from the atrium.
Ship tip
There is not a lot to do on this ship, especially with the older crowd for this itinerary, but we enjoyed relaxing on the balcony a lot.
Uber, food and hotels are very expensive. We do not recommend the Omni at the seaport. There were protests going on out front and it took 2 1/2 hours to get our pillows exchanged the night we got there. You couldn't get in any of the hotel restaurants without a reservation. It was very hard for us to get around since my husband walks with a cane.
We liked the tour around Portland. However, we had booked the train excursion to New Hampshire and thru the white mountains, and we were looking forward to this trip. It got cancelled by the cruise line 2 days before we got there and was credited to our seapass. We ended up booking the other tour to try to use the money up, even though I had paid for it months ahead of time on my credit card. We got delayed getting off the ship by almost 2 hours because immigration personnel had to come on board to hand check the photo ID and seapass card of every person on the ship before they would let anyone off. It was a nightmare. The captain decided to stay in port an extra hour, which was nice, but we were an hour late getting to dinner.
We were very upset with the disembarkation process. My husband couldn't get wheelchair assistance off, even though we had all our bags with us, because the Royal employee was going strictly by the numbers that they had sent to the cabins for disembarking. He was hurting so bad from walking off the ship with his cane and bad knees. They didn't seem very concerned that he was walking off and was not steady on his feet.
Sorry your husband was in pain but why did you choose to self carry all your bags off the ship if your husband needed wheelchair assistance? Remember, the crew goes by the rules (for everyone’s safety and benefit) so if you are informed you will have a late debarkation, assume you will have a late debarkation. If that doesn’t work for you, immediately go to guest services and try to change it. They can’t put you in front of other wheelchair guests on debark morning especially if you need extra workers to carry off your bags.
So sorry your husband was hurting 😔 hope you enjoyed your cruise otherwise..my wife and I are booked for the Canada cruise in 10 days..it's our first cruise everyone's comments help thank you
