Review summary

Crossing the Atlantic was a birthday wish. With the ship only half-full and no children, it was peaceful. Shows were not a highlight but musicians were superb. All we really cared about was having decent food and drinks and relaxing and gazing out into the ocean. Not sure if we would have liked being on a full ship. A good portion of the passengers onboard walked around with sour expressions and were not friendly at all. At least three days we had rough seas and the promenade was closed. The captain made changes to the itinerary that kept us from even worse conditions.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very easy embarkation from Barcelona, ship sailed half-full

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Mostly excellent, cuisine is very retro, some would say dated but it suited us.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pools and rock-climbing were good.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Musicians were excellent. Juggling act was phenomenal and very funny. Singers/dancers very good. Comedian bombed. We didn't make it to many shows.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
One bartender was excruciatingly slow so we avoided that bar. Otherwise, bar, dining room and cabin service were excellent, personalized and caring. Cruise director team very engaging. Captain and officers were very approachable and welcoming.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Extremely clean and well-laid out. Did not bother with elevators because stairways were handy and gave a good workout. Smoke from casino is perceptible.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Furnishings and carpet a bit worn as would be expected, but acceptable. Very clean. More drawers than anyone could use.

Ship tip

Keep your expectations reasonable. If you want your surroundings to be up-to-date, this is not your ship.
