Review summary

We did the eastern med cruise with this ship. The places we went to were fantastic Santorini a stand out favourite but excursions were pricey when you realise that they all end up taking you shopping to their preferred places to spend even more money. Ship was crowded and sun loungers difficult to find anywhere other than out on top deck in direct sunlight. Thank god for the balcony. We rarely found a seat in any of the entertainment venues unless we went really really early. Food was BLAH unimpressive and almost all restraunts were closed before 10 with the exception of the pool bar. This company also pretty much abandoned us at the airport at 10am ( others were there earlier) for a flight home that wasn’t until 10pm. Other cruises have had tours that can be taken where they then drop you at the airport for your flight at the end, ah but the they wouldn’t get the benefits of taking you shopping. Unlikely to ever book with them again very unimpressed

You are correct of course independently booking trips would solve this and is something I would highly recommend if using this cruise line

Yes we are adults and we did go into Rome by train for the day leaving our luggage at the airport my point was there was no help from the ship this term abandon. All excursions we took were through the ship which is how we know how much they like us to SHOP at their PREFERRED places.

RC did tale you to the airport, they did not abandon you! You are comparing cruising in the Caribbean to cruising in the Med. It is quite different, no excursions on debarkation day. You are an adult, you could have gone on your own and booked a private tour.

If you book excursions independently from the ship, you will usually have a much better experience. The cruise excursions are usually more expensive, more crowded, don’t last as long and many times take you shopping. An independent excursion can solve those issues.
