Review summary

This was a 25th Anniversary cruise for my husband and I.  We had a great time and the hi-lite of the trip was the helicopter/glacier/dogsledding tour out of Skagway.  It was amazing to see the glacier close up and be able to see some of the beautiful state from a birds eye view.  While our suite on the ship (PR727) was beautiful, it was super cold (heat was not working properly) and does have a vibration/noise while the engines are running.  It was so cold in our room that we kept our winter jackets on while sitting in the room.  The food in the restaurants was amazing each and every time we went there!  Especially the Bayou Cafe and Steakhouse, the filet mignon was one of the best I've had.  The buffet needs to have more vegetable choices though.  Lots of different meats and pastas but very little with vegetables unless your looking for a salad.  All in all it was a great cruise.

The host at the Bayou Cafe and Steakhouse was super! Percival our room steward was great as well.

Cabin / Stateroom

The cabin itself is VERY large. It is a handicapped suite so the bathroom shower has a curtain and not glass enclosure. This cabin is located on the rear of the ship and does have a vibration and can be noisy when the engines are running, Also the balcony is on the rear of the ship so your view is limited to what is behind the ship only. The heat worked great in this room on our first night and then not so much for the remaining 6 nights. We needed to keep our winter jackets on to sit in this room during down time.

Steer clear of the gem/mining/jewelry shop unless you like HIGH pressure sales. My husband got ropped into a coin scavenger hunt that included every stop on our cruise. Each and EVERY visit to each and every store they would try to sell you more and more jewelry. IT was super annoying and took time away from other sightseeing. It was so bad that he skipped the last stop all together so that we could enjoy the towns.

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

Vancouver is beautiful and we wished that we could have had more time there. Make sure you plan to add an extra day on to explore all of it.

The repair guy was in there twice, and called for a third time, but never showed. I completely understand that there are a lot of things that can go wrong, but sheesh 7 nights and only had heat for one.

We had trouble with our cabin air conditioner being too cold and not adjustable. We complained for three days, they finally rebuilt it while we waited. There is a lot that can go wrong with a ship that size. Consider the myriad of plumbing and electrical connections, individual heating/cooling units, etc. It's a wonder they work as well as they do. You are entitled to have things work properly, but sometimes you have to push the complaint to get it fixed. Try to be reasonable, they have a vested interest in your comfort.
