Iona Cruise Reviews - Q&A

4.4
We are in Iona for first time in November. Reviews suggest you have to book even main dining rooms. Is this still true as they asked us what sitting time we’d like when we booked do assuming it’s now like traditional cruising? Cheers

Try the Olive Grove too, no surcharge but you need to book on the app. The goat's cheese & rocket pizza is worth ordering.

Just got off Iona a few weeks back. The Main Dinning rooms cannot be reserved. Once onboard use the My Holidays app and you can join a virtual queue for any of the 4 main dinning rooms. In my experience, I never waited more than 5 minutes to get a table. Alternatively, you can just show up to the venue and if they have space they will seat you then or provider a pager if you need to wait a few moments. If you want to eat at any of the extra pay restaurants I recommend you do it online 2 weeks before. You’ll need to pay a small deposit per person. In the case for Sindhu’s if you prebook online you also get 20% off your total bill. I do not know if the same applies to other venues.

Iona has NO fixed dining times. There is an app, and it shows how many are waiting for all the venues. You join a queue and the app tells you when to head down to your restaurant. We’ve been on Iona 3 times, once when it was as full as it had ever been, we never waited more than 15 mins. Alternatively you can just go down and queue, they have two lines, one for those using the app, one for those just ‘turning up’. We’re on her again at the end of October. Hope that helps.

From Three weeks before your sailing date you can book times in all the bookable restaurants via your online booking page. In the main dining rooms (there are 4) you can only book a time slots for sitting down between 5:30 and 6:30. Any time after these times you can either virtual queue or turn up and queue

Give the Quays on deck 8 a go you don't have to book, and it has got a lot of choices.

Thanks all for the responses. It just seems weird they asked what sitting we wanted to be on (6:15 or 8:15) if you still need to use the app etc.
