Great as Always - With Some Opportunity to Make Better by CruzinMammazann

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our 3rd time on the Independence of the Seas, and our 5th time with Royal Carribean (RC).  RC is our cruise line of choice due to their amazing staff, attention to detail and high quality facilities.  A couple of messages for RC management from folks (us and our friends) who have stayed on Deck 10 in Grand and Owners' suites 4 times.  We are very disappointed that the Bose speakers were removed from the guest suites.  Why????  We are Bose fans and want to see them back in the RC suites.  Touches like Bose speakers were a welcome surprise on our trips and it feels like these types of touches are slowly being taken away.  More attention needs to be paid to the drawers in the suites that are wearing out and sometimes difficult to close...as well as to small details such as replacing light bulbs in the vanity mirrors.  For the concierge lounge...it's wonderful that all liquors served there are top shelf...but why the Tisdale wines?  We can get those in the USA for $4-$5 per bottle.  The Tisdale wines are cheap, taste cheap and not concierge lounge-worthy.  Please at least serve something that is $10-$12/bottle, such as Kendall Jackson, Josh, Bogle, etc.  My next comment is about the price of WiFI on the ship.  For those of us who are paying top dollar to stay on deck 10, we should not also be asked to pay an outrageous amount of money for WiFi.  In all the hotels we stay at, WiFi is complementary due to our status at the hotels....at Platinum Status and on deck 10....charging us for WiFi feels like gouging.  My last comment is about food safety.  I and many in my family are allergic to shellfish.  Others, I'm sure are allergic to peanuts, etc.  The appetizers in the concierge lounge are not only not labeled, but they are co-mingled on platters...for example, there will be a tray with shrimp, chicken and vegetarian appetizers...with no labels..and the opportunity for cross-contamination of allergens.  Please change this process as you are setting the stage for potential harm to unsuspecting travelers.  Thanks,  Suzanne

Very Relaxing: by Bagito

I loved relaxing on the ship's deck where they had a bunch of reclining chairs and feel the breeze. The food and entertainment is ok, but the crew is awesome especially in the dining areas.

Wonderful experience for a first time cruise. by Cubfancruzer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Excellent service.  Friendly staff.  Delicious meals.  Coffee urns during breakfast would often be empty.  Excellent hygiene practices at the restaurants.  Everyone must use a hand sanitizer before entering the dining areas.  Staff is stationed at entrance to remind passengers to sanitize their hands.  A definite plus in keeping germs at bay with such a large group of people.

Good Time by Cruiser87526609

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Favorite part of our cruise was our stop in Jamaica and visiting the Dunns Falls.  This was the time of our life, beautiful scenery and a fun time.   The cruise ship was very nice, however the food in the buffet area was good, but the day to day variation was lacking.  (Same type of food every day).  If you are looking for gifts you will need to buy something off the ship.  All we could find are expensive jewelry, purses, watches.  They had very little souvenir style items.   (P.S>   our trip included a stop in Haiti.. this was a resort owned by Royal Caribbean.  Unless you took an excursion, there really was nothing to do or see other than set at the beach)...  This all being said, the cruise was still fun and we will do it again.

Disappointed by nicole13664445

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ports and excursions were great.  The ship and rooms were very clean.  The overall moral of the personal was disappointing.  Some crew members even rude at times.   This ships needs help with organization and friendliness.  I have been on many Carnival Cruises and they have been great.  I expected this experience to be even more enjoyable.  I would not recommend this ship at all.

Very nice cruise by pamela63563840

Loved how it didn't feel crowded on the ship and the variety of things to do - never board.  Need more staff at the poolside bars.  2 of 3 tours cancelled; one due to windy conditions (not the ship's fault) but one was because of not enough bookings; perhaps too many tours being offered?

Very Relaxing by negraflacachula

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This time around, we enjoyed  more our excursion in Costa Maya. The jungle beach adventure  was exactly  what  we needed...excellent  service  at the beach, awesome  food Yummyand free drinks. Highly  recommend  it! Our beach excursion  at Playa Mia in Cozumel  was good, but we preferred  Chankanab (went there last January). The water at Playa Mia was too cold (beach, pool & jacuzzi). The service and food at restaurant  was good, but a little  pricey so we shared a plat...which it was enough  for my husband  and I. The experience  inside  the ship was awesome, as usual Big SmileLove

The friendliest staff on the ocean by ellenvoie

The staff of the Independence of the Seas was so friendly I felt as if they were all long lost friends.  If you are lucky enough to have Heathcliff as your stateroom attendant, your cruise will be the best ever.

January/February Cruise 2017 by Kenneth3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our second cruise, first cruise with Royal Caribbean. The itinerary was great and the ports were awesome! The overall attitudes of the staff were not that great. The staff on the Carnival Breeze were more friendly and polite than the Independence of the Seas. In general, it seemed as if we were "in the way", to most staff members. This was not the case with all staff members, as there were several that were very nice. I would highly advise NOT to purchase the transportation provided by Royal Caribbean from the pier to the airport (port everglades to FLL). This was a HUGE mistake!! The system seemed to be very disorganized. When were disembarked the ship (earlier than our scheduled time!), we made our way to the bus pick up location. We got on the bus and waited 45 minutes to an hour before the bus left. It was very obvious that other passengers were getting anxious, due to approaching flight times. The driver of the bus and staff at the pier did not seem concerned about our flight times. The reason we booked this method of transportation was to ensure we would make our flight on time and not have to worry about anything (factors they advertise online). We barely made our flight on time! This was a very unpleasant experience! We felt extremely rushed and nervous the entire time! We paid 16 or 17 dollars per person! This was a terrible experience for that price! We could have taken a taxi for half the price.

Cruise by joannsulin

There were not enough outside activities (interactive) shows/music.

Some programs over lapped others so you couldn't enjoy all that was offered.

Staff was great throughout the ship.

Family Fun by sanshope

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Independence of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The dining experience was the best part of each evening.  We were treated so wonderfully and the food was amazing. Singh and Adriana was our wait staff and they treated us like royalty.  Byran took good care of our rooms and was available all the time if we needed anything. The Labadee port was very nice and lunch was good, we had a nice cabana and staff that were very attentive.  Shopping experience off the ship was not as good as I expected and our Jamaica trip was a disappointment.

I was surprised how smooth this boat was, we had high winds and it was still a smooth ride.  Only Boat i have not got sick on.  It was a very clean boat. Our bed was the most comfortable bed i ever slept on a  boat. And it was King size.  I just loved everything about this boat. easy on and easy off.
