Independence of the seas needs renovation. Wish we did not pay to upgrade room as the shower was an issue. by kimberlymilburn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Independence of the Seas

Food at dinner was very nice, service fantastic. Lunch and Breakfast not so good at any location we ate (Windjammer, Main dining). Paid for upgraded room which was not worth it. Shower sometimes has hot water, severe drain issue. App did not work while on ship. Internet was terrible (our friend got so we could keep in touch) but it never worked. This ship needs a severe upgrade. Will not be sailing this ship again and maybe not Royal Caribbean. First cruise with this company was not as we had hoped.

Nice day at Perfect Day by Doc4ever

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Independence of the Seas

I don't know if we will go back on Royal Caribbean. Had heard so many good things but thought it was less than some other lines. Liked priority boarding. The suite breakfast was terrible - ran out of food, horrible service. Glad we didn't wake up for it. Princess smokes them in this category. Dinner was average - not as good as Princess. Much more packed areas than Princess.

Amazing Caribbean get away by kavinpaulson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Independence of the Seas

This cruise was everything we expected and then some. Always something to do and always something to eat or drink! Ankit and Agnes in main dining were the reason we went back every night. They were so kind and genuine. We had kids and they weren’t always still and calm and it didn’t faze them one bit. These two were by far the highlighted employees for us on this cruise/ship. 10/10, bravo Ankit and Agnes! :)

Twas' Not a Perfect Day at Coco Cay by chymes

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Independence of the Seas

I know my review may seem negative. Its just my honest opinion for this particular sailing. I love Royal Caribbean but our embarkation set the tone and it was so awful! I do highly recommend Independence of the Seas and Freedom of the Seas class. I think they are the best value at RCL.

Amazing fun filled cruise experience by sejalnshah

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Independence of the Seas

We couldn’t have asked for a better cruise experience. From the embarking to disembarking, everything we did was simply amazing. The food was so delicious, especially for being a vegetarian family, we didn’t have worry about anything. The staff in windjammer and dinning halls were very accommodating to our dietary needs.

Royal Caribbean never fails by Jbeavs2002

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Independence of the Seas

Overall it was great, first time in Cozumel and Miami! 2nd time and CoCo Cay and I will say I enjoyed CoCo Cay more those time. First time I was there it was a bit to cold to swim and I wasn’t sure if the different areas. Once you learn how to navigate CoCo Cay and find a spot you like then it is much better.

Ship: Independence of the Seas

We prefer Royal Caribbean over any other cruise ships. Best prices, best food, best entertainment always. The waterpark on Cococay was amazing. Our grandson had a blast. He loved the watersides and Flow Master on the ship too! Wi definitely book another Royal cruise in the near future!!!

Dining room staff and food taste/quality significantly worse post-covid by TimTimSalabim

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Independence of the Seas

The ship is showing its age, but the main issue is the change since covid, since the cruise line laid off the majority of its staff for a number of years and then had to rehire everyone. Wait staff in the main dining room were not warm, inviting, or friendly. We sat next to dirty, uncleared tables for 45 minutes at a time, the food used to be wonderful, but this was more in line with Golden Corral.

First and last time with Royal Caribbean by hpripstein

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Independence of the Seas

Had high expectations because of the price tag but it turns out its only expensive to book for couples families of four are almost the same price. The ship was 50%children running wild until 1am. Ive never been on a ship where I didnt know the captain's name and at least have him make an announcement over the intercom. Drink package was sooooo expensive and chairs on sea day were hard to come by even though the ship was only 75% capacity.

Good trip, needs less days at sea though by donnaginn11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Independence of the Seas

The staff is wonderful. The size of the rooms are reasonable. I do not recommend 2 back to back days at sea. It got boring. I like a day at sea to relax, but 2 back to back is just too much.

Decent Overall Experience by BillyDSoul

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Independence of the Seas

Royal Caribbean continues to up its quality with its newer class of ships. The older classes need to be either refurbished or phased out. This ship and experience felt very "carnival/msc" ish. It was the "motel" experience instead of the 5 star hotel/resort quality I prefer. I chose it for the price and quick getaway. You get what you paid for. I definitely did. Was not a bad cruise, but it was different than my usual fare.

Royal Caribbean - Independence, is a wonderful experience for anyone wanting to feel like they are a valued passenger. The time, attention and personal efforts given to the passengers by the staff was exceptional. I wholeheartedly recommend this cruise.
