Independence of the Seas

4 Night Bahamas & Perfect Day (Port Canaveral Roundtrip)

Sail date: May 29, 2023

Ship: Independence of the Seas

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

I loved every minute of the cruise. A couple nights we were in stormy seas and could see a lot of lightning and hear a lot of thunder, but never noticed the ship being affected. It was amazingly smooth throughout the whole trip. I would have expected the ship to be rocking at least a little, but it was very smooth sailing.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The embarkation couldn't have been any smoother. We were on board by a few minutes after 11.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We were happy with all the food choices. We had the key welcome lunch in the main dining room which was great. The rest of the time we ate in Windjammer, Johny Rockets, or playmakers and enjoyed everything. There were always plenty of choices in Windjammer so we always found something we liked.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We mainly stayed at the solarium pool and gave many of the bars a try. Every bartender was always smiling and happy and gave good service and many greeted us by name when they saw us.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The various DJs and musicians were great. We didn't go to any shows, instead spending a lot of time in the casino.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward Reynaldo was great. The room was always cleaned for us in the morning. He gave us a choice of morning or afternoon service and we chose morning. The room was always ready by the time we returned each afternoon. All the workers seemed very happy and they all kept very busy picking up after people and cleaning the ship.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
You can tell they work very hard to keep everything clean. It was all spotless as far as I could see.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was a typical balcony which was perfect for our needs.

Ship tip

Relax and enjoy yourselves! This was a sold out sailing with about 1000 passengers under 18. There were many kids celebrating their high school graduations, and they were a great group of kids. They were all well behaved, polite, and friendly. Their parents should be proud.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

5 out of 5
We live close by so we just hopped in the car and went home.

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
We chose to remain on board and stayed by the solarium pool. This was the only rainy day of our trip, but the weather didn't affect us at all.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation was extremely smooth. With the key we were walked off by a few minutes after 7. By 8am we were all ready home and unpacked and doing our laundry.
