Review summary

This was a fantastic family experience we do these once a year where we get together with a lot of our family and cruise together. Royal Caribbean definitely has plenty of things to appeal to every age group.

Embarkation

All things considered this went pretty smooth we were traveling with my four-year-old niece and she had to be tested before she got on the ship so that made things a little more stressful but overall considering the ship was at full capacity it was a fairly easy process.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Overall the food was good for the most part. Dinner in the main dining room was nice food quality was above average they were just a couple of things that weren’t stellar but easy to order a replacement. Our main waiter was great but his helper was obviously knew and it showed but he was trying very hard a little patience goes a long way and since there were nine of us we tried to be understanding. We did not do any specialty dining this trip since we were such a large group and it was only a three day the buffet was great for breakfast in the mornings but was definitely lacking at lunchtime, just not a lot of selection. Personally we did not make it to breakfast in the dining room however the rest of our party attempted it one morning and it was a disaster. Because they did not arrive together at the same time they would not set them together which is very unusual I think a lot of the issues with the dining experience on this trip was that there was just a lot of new staff that’s not well trained yet. It definitely was not your normal Royal Caribbean food experience generally we never house complaints in this area. The late night pizza was definitely the star of the show it was nice that you could get an entire pizza to take back to your room.

Champagne Bar

4 out of 5

So the name is deceiving because they really don’t have A variety of champagne to order. It’s mostly sparkling wine and midrange bubbly no actual champagne on the menu. And only two champagne cocktails the rest are martinis that don’t contain champagne. In spite of the name of the bar not really being very descriptive of it and us being a little disappointed about the lack of champagne it was a very nice place to have a cocktail. The star here was the espresso martinis and it was a great people watching spot that was not super loud so you could definitely have a good conversation.

Vintages

5 out of 5

We actually ended up hanging out here quite a lot it was never very busy and they had a fantastic wine list. It was a great place to sit at a table have some wine and watch what was going on down the main promenade area. They had a small selection of liquor so if you wanted a simple cocktail you could get it from the bar otherwise you would have to go across the way to the pub. But if you’re a wine drinker this is the spot. We did take advantage of one of the wine and food pairings and it was fantastic I definitely recommend

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Lots to do pools were nice and not super crowded considering it was a summer cruise

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The grease show was amazing and we also enjoyed the show in the ice rink take a sweater though because it was colder then expected

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff was friendly and accommodating what we have found to always be true on Royal Caribbean still is. I will say there was a lot of new staff just learning the ropes but they were still trying their best and smiling even when others were not being particularly kind to them

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
She’s an older ship and showing a little bit of where it was clean and everything seemed to be in working order. The elevators near the dining rooms tend to have a lot of congestion especially before the early dinner seating this is a design issue that a lot of older ships have.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was an average size for a balcony honestly we didn’t spend very much time here since we are traveling with large group of family it was more of a sleep shower situation next time we’re traveling with that many people we probably will just do an ocean view and save the dollars.

Ports of call

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

5 out of 5
We thoroughly enjoyed this day we should have gotten off the boat earlier though as it was super crowded at the oasis pool by the time we got there but we still had a great time we just found a spot of concrete near the pool to dump our stuff.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Super easy
