Review summary

This was our first vacation & cruise without our children in 22 years! So glad we finally made the time for ourselves and sailed with RCCL. It was ONLY three days and we wanted more time when it was over because we had a great time. It was our 2nd cruise but first on RCCL and we loved the Promenade and meeting new people. We'll be back.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was smooth. We did have a Junior Suite which allowed us to board early so take that into consideration but overall it was very easy.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
As we said this was our 1st vacation without our kids so we treated ourselves with a Chops+1 package and Beach Club. So we didn't eat in MDR or Windjammer. The food at Chops, Izumi and Beach Club was fantastic. The wings and nachos at Playmakers were the most disappointing as the nachos were bland and the wings undercooked. Breakfast in the room was good, nothing special.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There's plenty to do on the ship for sure. We enjoyed the pool deck, had a few cocktails there and relaxed. The Promenade can be an activity itself and the casino was alot fun too.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We saw Scotty Cavanaugh after meeting him near the elevators and he invited us to the later show. He was great! Boleros was always hopping with music. The Promenade in general is just a great place to hang out and take in the ship's energy, especially on formal night!

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The service and staff was good. Nothing negative of note. Rodrigo from Chops brought birthday cake for my wife on the house. I walk with a cane and the staff was attentive to any assistance I needed as well. But we noticed that wasn't the case for everyone. Perhaps gratuities being included is less of a hassle but doesn't necessarily inspire staff to go above and beyond in all cases if that makes sense?

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We heard she was dated but we thought she's still looking good. Spacious and never felt crowded to us. The common areas were kept clean and the rooms were cleaned twice a day.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We stayed in Junior Suite #9568. The suite was H-U-G-E! Room for a couch, chair and ottoman. The couch was newer. There's a walk in closet and a large balcony. The bathroom is a bit small and has a step up that can trip you up if you're not careful. But the space was clean and the bed was comfortable.

Ship tip

Two things: 1) If you have the opportunity to experience a specialty dining then please try too. #TreatYourself! 2) Guard your peace. Don't let long lines or negative cruisers impact your cruise. Vacation is what you make it!

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
We went to Nassau on our first cruise with our children. We didn't get off the ship this trip. But wow, that dock and detour from construction looks like it makes for an even longer walk from what we could see.

Port Canaveral, Florida

5 out of 5
Canaveral is convenient from MCO and easy to navigate.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We heard horror stories about disembarkation too but that wasn't our experience. We didn't do the self assist and set our bags out the night before and our disembark time was 8:55am. Perhaps we missed the crowd that we've heard so much about.
