Review summary

The service on this ship cannot be beat!! The food was exceptionally lackluster. The interior Space is cramped, crowded, and jammed. Won’t do Freedom Class again but will definitely stick with RCL!

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Service was amazing! Food was beautifully presented. 3 stars are for quality and flavor. It just didn’t taste good. We dined in MDR and Windjammer.

Onboard Activities

Grease stage show was energetic and entertaining. Game shows we’re tons of fun, the cruise director was a blast! We loved him. The piano bar singer was a jerk. I understand a little ribbing is part of the show but this guy was just an ass.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Absolutely amazing. All the time and without exception across all disciplines. The service we experienced on this voyage is the best I’ve had- ever. This was my 11th cruise (Royal, Dis, Carnival, NCL, and Celebrity). There was not one single misstep from parking lot to parking lot. The crew seemed to truly enjoy themselves and us. It was so nice!!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
All common areas were very, very tidy. No trash left about anywhere. I never saw anyone sanitizing surfaces but the general pre-pandemic type cleaning was spot on!! The ship itself felt cramped. The interior spaces were jampacked full of people with poor traffic flow. Definitely was a negative for this cruise. I will most likely never book this ship class again because of the layout of the ship in general.

Cabin / Stateroom

Promenade view connecting cabin was so small that I bumped into the vanity every night when using the lavatory. I am 5’1” and 135#- a small, petite person. We had to jump over beds for the 2 of us small ladies to get around inside the room. We were shocked at how poorly laid out this cabin was. The beds were like laying on a hard slab. They were so bad that we had to lay on top of our bedspreads for cushion. If this had been a seven day cruise I might have tried out one of the lobby sofas instead of my cabin bed just to get a break. The interior of our bathroom was not as clean as we would have liked. There were some leftover hairs in the shower from the previous cruiser. Otherwise the cleanliness of the cabin is exactly as you would expect and we would not have known that anyone had been there before us. Any party being held on the promenade was very loud inside the cabin. Luckily we had read reviews about this and brought earplugs with us. Perhaps Royal Caribbean could include this in the cabins for cruisers. It would’ve been terrible if we had had small children that we were trying to get to sleep or we ourselves wished for a bedtime earlier than 11 PM . Very little sound buffer. The overall comfort level of this cabin, rated from 0 to 10 with 10 being very comfortable, this cabin is a 3. I will never book this type of cabin again and perhaps won’t book this ship class again either.

Ship tip

Get to the silent disco early, they run out of headphones and it is held in the tiniest of spaces. Definitely visit the sports bar! Their wings are some of the best we’ve ever had on land or sea. If you plan to watch a favorite sports team while I’m bored, don’t get too excited because the ship is very particular about what they will play, even if they have the Netwerk connection that the game is being played on. Even if you pre-paid your tips, bring extra money because the service is so amazing you just won’t be able to help yourself and will want to give more. That crew really deserves it.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

Disembarkation

Only one negative, Royal Caribbean did not tell us that we had to have our passport, birth certificate, or ID in hand when getting off the ship. Yes, we know this from previous cruises however guidelines change all the time. The security staff at the port was screaming at people and there was a backlog of traffic because none of us, and I mean hundreds of us, did not have our documents ready.
