Ship: Independence of the Seas

Traveled as: Singles/Friends

Review summary

I thought it would be good since I enjoyed the sister ship Freedom. I was wrong. People in general on this cruise were not friendly. Food was not good. Entertainment during covid is usually lacking. Wasn't as clean as Freedom. One good thing is that I didn't wear a mask except for the 1st day. Crew and guests didn't say anything. I'd say 50% of passengers didn't wear masks.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Walked right on ship. No delay.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Free food was not good except pizza.( if it weren't for the pizza, I would of went hungry) No free Mexican except on Perfect Day. Fish and chips was only food by pool on Lido for $

Onboard Activities

Service and Staff

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Was not as good ( by far) to the sister ship Freedom of the seas

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was very tight. Was nice to have extra seating though I did not need it.

Ship tip

Spend money on restaurants. Only good thing you will get. Also stay on ship in Nassau unless it's a good excursion.

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

2 out of 5
Did Land and Sea. Should of stayed on the ship. Extremely long walk to xit pier. Such construction everywhere. Land and sea not worth it. Only good thing was seeing the Queens Staircase.

Port Canaveral, Florida

2 out of 5
Easy to get on ship

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Seamless

Thank you for taking the time to share your review. Sounds like your cruise had it share of challenges.

Also 6583 is right next to a room with a silver door that does something with dishes. I don't know why dishes on Deck 6 but very loud. Bed almost as hard as the floor.

No free food on Lido deck? They call that a cruise?

Summerholiday    2 years ago

It is funny how it varies from ship to ship right now. Our cruise on mariner in November I thought the same thing in regards to food. But we went on the allure in February and the food was exactly what I’ve come to expect from Royal Caribbean. We went on the independence and freedom both and never had any issues but they were both pre-Covid. I guess it just depends on who the head chef is on that particular ship at that time.

I never had a bad day on a cruise ship or in any port. I never been on a RC cruise before. Though there was that time I sailed with princess😃

Sorry you were disappointed. Try Princess. Thanks for sharing your cruise with us.

Sorry this wasn’t a fun one for you. You should try the Symphony before you give up on RC 😉

I can't wait to get back on Carnival. I thought Royal would spoil me, but it definitely did not.
