Review summary

The cruise was nice. There were some positive surprises like easy access to the pool tables in the sports bar. And both Monday night and Thursday night football were shown there in addition to up on deck at the pool. Some major disappointments, Grease was cancelled, and smoke as more of a problem than any cruise I can remember.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Embarkation was smooth. The security team even helped when we misplaced a bag.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The dining room was very nice, a multi level area with an attentive staff. The buffet was clean, well provided, and mostly delicious. Breakfast in the Buffet was particularly good. It included the fixings for an English breakfast, along with just about anything else you might want. The biscuits were particularly bad.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
With less people on the ship there was plenty of room at the pools for everyone and none of the activities seemed overcrowded. There was a problem with access to the schooner bar, so some activities were not accessible for everyone.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
The main show "Grease" was cancelled at the last minute. Unfortunate since so many people consider the shows to be one of the best parts of the trip. The adult comedy show was very funny without being that over the top. The two family shows were just okay even though the same comics were performing.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
A great staff that was a pleasure to deal with at every point of the voyage.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
This was my second trip on a ship of this class. I still love it and consider it to be one of the best. Some of the spaces could better be used. For example the Ale house on the promenade was almost always empty but had dozens of tables blocking the walk areas. While the pizza place did not always have enough tables. And Johnny Rockets is a bit hidden. You'd have to be looking for it to find it. No one is stumbling across it on deck 12.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Exactly what you would expect in a cabin (small and reasonably well laid out) and spotlessly clean. No refrigerator in room. It had a chiller which would keep a drink not-hot. The hallways had no place for dirty dishes so you had to step around them as you walked.

Ship tip

While we were on board smoking was allowed in the casino. That made the Schooner Bar on deck 4 unusable for anyone that had problems with smoke. It adjoins the casino and reeked of smoke. That meant many musical and trivia performances, and casual relaxing were denied to some of the passengers. The sports bar on the other side of the casino did not have the same smoke issue somehow.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

4 out of 5
Easy to follow layout. Signage was good.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

5 out of 5
A nice and well maintained beach you can spend the day at. You can use your ship card to purchase on the island. I did not try the water slides but they did look fun.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Facial recognition for passport control meant a FAST process. We were 10 minutes from gangplank to our car.
