Review summary

My wife and I wanted to try a smaller ship than the Oasis class, and Independence did not disappoint. Staff was excellent but not too intrusive. Only minor issues of scheduling meals around shows, and we did miss the Solarium Bistro and Park Café as dining options, but other than that well worth the time and price.

Ship experiences

5 out of 5
Great for banquet food, we mainly ate in the main dining room

could not do all activities available

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We enjoyed the entertainment provided, just wanted a bit better scheduling

Children's Programs

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Wait staff and cabin staff excellent

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very clean

Ship tip

Be sure to check out the Case de Habanos at the pier instead of the merchants lining the streets. As of December 2014, the ship had a cigar lounge next to the Alhambra, which was nice for a late night or after dinner cigar.

Make sure to go on the actual scuba diving excursions in Grand Cayman

Beach or Case de Habanos, I would do nothing else

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
As you enter the island, try to go to the right hand side to avoid crowds and to get a sandier beach
