Review summary

We paid quite a bit for our balcony room and everything on board was a extra cost. It seems like Royal has gone to nickel and diming customers. Our cabin was a bit too warm for us and the free food was like going to Golden Corral. We just did a back to back cruise on the Carnival Celebration and their free food was much better. It was out first Carnival cruise and we thought we would like the Icon better and did that also but actually liked the less crowded and better food on the Celebration. The service was excellent on the Icon all the employees were very polite and helpful. The ship was just beautiful and the pools were huge just loaded with kids. Overall I would not go on another so crowded ship it was just too many people and the lines were long.

Food and Dining

The free food at the Windjammer and the other free restaurants is like Golden Corral style. Not bad but nothing special. The drinks at the bars are quite pricy.

The ship took a long time to learn and was very very busy. You spend a long time of your vacation just waiting in lines.

Cabin / Stateroom

We had a balcony cabin called a infinate balcony. I was expecting a actual balcony not a fake one. The room also stayed pretty warm. Out cabin steward called maintenance and they checked the temp at night and said it was 71.8 which was in spec for the new eco ac system.

I thought this ship looked amazing but after seeing honest reviews that aren't pure hype it seems this ship is not worth the price. Thanks for your candor.

Thank you for the review. We are going on Icon in May and I booked over a year ago. I’ve since realized how much I’m overpaying for a week long Caribbean vacation. We will be looking at alternative vacations going forward as Royal’s pricing has gotten way out of hand for how little you get to actually do thanks to overcrowding.

Doesn't help to say you were nickel and dimed without elaborating as to how.

As this likely will be taken down. The expense is getting crazy, and on my next cruise, we are going to evaluate if it is just worthy anymore. We may go back to all-inclusive resorts. I'm not into this. Thanks for sharing crowd. I believe we should be honest with others to make having a better future experiences.
