Review summary

Despite a lot of unruly and undisciplined kids on board (and I mean a lot!), we still had a good time! Kids were constantly screaming and running up and down cabin hallways. Teenagers doing the same. We didn’t let this keep us from enjoying the cruise, the ship and her crew though!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Had 11:00 AM check-in time; went very smoothly. Never had to sit down - just kept walking and were on the ship before 11:00 AM.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
MDR food was very good and was always served promptly and efficiently; nice selection each night. Beef tenderloin was wonderful! Judy & Mariana were our servers - fantastic job!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Plenty of activities to choose from - not sure how some people get bored.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
I’m a big Grease fan and I really enjoyed this production! Husband enjoyed it as well. We saw it twice. 1887 ice show and Columbus Musical were just okay. The iSkate show on the last night was great! Jazz Quartet was wonderful!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All staff/crew we encountered were wonderful! Our cabin attendant was Jackie - just a wonderful person! Our MDR servers, Judy & Mariana, were great! We requested their section for the week since the first night was so good with them.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Beautiful ship! We loved the cabin/hallway decor colors. Public areas were always clean and crew were constantly working to keep them tidy. It is a very large ship, but still easily navigated.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Booked an inside guarantee cabin. Probably the smallest inside cabin we’ve ever had. Bathroom was also super small. Seems like the newer the ship, the smaller the rooms get. Bed was very firm. Appreciated the nightlight in the bathroom. AC worked great. TV was large but in a really bad location. Plenty of electrical outlets - even one on the nightstand - and two USB ports.

Ship tip

Don’t book a cruise for a Kids Sail Free sailing - horrible! Lesson learned!

Ports of call

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

Stayed on the ship here as we have been here several times, and the ship was leaving at 12:30 PM, so not much time to enjoy it anyway.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

Galveston, Texas

Didn’t spend any time in Galveston - only to board/leave the ship.

Cozumel, Mexico

Went to Nochi Cocom beach for the day. Very nice and quite place! Staff and food were great. Cab fare is a little pricey at $20.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
It was basically all 7K passengers disembarking between 8:00-9:40 AM. We are Emerald, so we were able to take advantage of priority embarkation and were off the ship at 7:25 AM. Note: the instructions said to go to the theater on deck 4, but if you are in the priority group, go to deck 5 of the theater so that you don’t have to get on the elevator again to go up one floor to leave the ship. I always dread - DREAD - disembarkation, but this went very smoothly for us.
