Review summary

We loved this cruise so much that while on board, we booked to go on it again in a few months. Literally same boat and same itinerary!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
From my car to the ship in well under 30 minutes. Best port experience I’ve ever seen for embarkation.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was better than expected in main dining. Hibachi and Italian specialty dining were both incredible. I wouldn’t do the Mexican or steakhouse specialty restaurants again. Mexican was actually the worst meal we had on board and it’s an embarrassment to Royal that there is an up charge for that.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I was nervous my two-year-old would get bored, but he had the time of his life. We had a blast on board!

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Loved the ice skating show. Grease was just ok to me. The comedians were hilarious! If you have kids, don’t miss the black light puppet show - it was fun even for the adults!

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
We never left our son with the childcare so I can’t speak to that. He enjoyed the open toddler play area though and the puppet show was great!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Wonderful service throughout the whole ship.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Everything was clean. One thing I did miss from my multiple NCL cruises though is having more facing the water.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The cabin was fine, however when we got there the balcony was so dirty that my son stepped on it barefoot for a short moment and it turned his feet black. Royal did come clean and also compensated us for the poor cleanliness when we arrived. The main issue with this room is noise. We ended up having to pull up sound machine videos on YouTube. Thankfully we had wifi. The room is very close to the aquatheater which has a ton of music, cheering, etc til about midnight on almost all nights. Additionally, this room is under the basketball court. The dribbling and hoop-shooting against the ceiling basically sounded like explosions above all day long.

Ship tip

Have fun!

Disembarkation

Disembarkation was crazy. Long lines. Porters at the port were wonderful though once we got off.
