We've been trying to get to the Pirate Islands, and we've finally made a start! We started the cruise by watching the SpaceX launch the night before embarkation.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
The signage for embarkation was non-existent. We paid extra for The Key, but the lines weren't marked, so there was no expedited embarkation. Once inside the security, we did receive some assistance pushing my wheelchair and check-in only took a couple of minutes. The wait to get onboard the ship was about 20 minutes as they only had one person pushing wheelchairs onto the ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
My Time Dining at the main dining room was a cluster. Again, there was no signage telling people there were actually two lines for dinner, one for those with reservations and one for those without. Once we figured which was the line for those with reservation, the line moved fairly quickly. The food was really good, and the wait staff was professional. We had one dinner at the teppanyaki restaurant, and we enjoyed a good show for dinner. For once, we actually ate more in the main dining room than we did the buffet.
Schooner Bar
5 out of 5
Great place to sit along the rail and do some people-watching.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
One of the activities we really enjoy onboard is just people-watching, and with a ship this size, there's LOTS of people to watch.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We enjoyed their rendition of Grease, other than the fact some of the songs were done out of order. The comedian act was really good.
Children's Programs
We didn't have children along.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Maria, our cabin steward, was always friendly and cheerful every time we saw her. For as large of a ship as this is, we were surprised at the level of service and friendliness displayed by the crew.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
We had no issues with the layout of the ship. We didn't find any "special routes" where you had to go up two decks to get from one end to the other, then go down three desk to where you're trying to get to like you find on some ships.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The cabin was tighter that we're used to, but our steward kept it clean and was very helpful any time we needed any special requests filled. She found me some extra pillows, and was able to get a shower stool for me without any issue.
Ship tip
Book you dining and shows at your earliest opportunity, as they go fast!
We liked our St Maarten tour. We got to go to both sides of the island, and since the French side is not considered a French Territory, but a part of France, we can now say we've visited France. We got to see some planes fly at treetop (or below) level at Maho Beach, so that square's been filled, too.
This was much better than embarkation, other than the fact it meant we were leaving because our cruise was over. As a purchaser of The Key, and the fact we requested wheelchair assistance, we were given an appointment time to meet with our assistant, who was prompt, and we were off the ship by 8:15 and in our car by 8:30.
