Well worth your time. Best vacation you can take is on a cruise line. Congrats to Royal Caribbean for doing such a great job at it.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was incredibly fast. Arrived at the port and walked right onto the ship with very little wait.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The food was excellent (except the scrambled eggs, which tasted like powdered). There was a wide variety of food available at the buffet, and the food at the main dining room was as good as any restaurant. We had a large group, and a daily reservation time for dinner at the main dining room. This worked out great. We walked straight to our same table, and had the same waiters. My only complaint is if you arrived at the buffet at prime lunch and breakfast times it was difficult to find a place to sit.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We traveled with children, and this cruise ship is very family friendly. There is a lot of activities for children of all ages. We never were bored, or lacked something to do when at sea.
Entertainment
My family went to the shows, but I did not. They enjoyed the shows.
Children's Programs
5 out of 5
My grandchildren (there were eight of them) all enjoyed the kids club. The ship also had a daily kids movie as well.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
All of the ship's staff were incredible friendly. I never encountered a single dismissive, curt, or unfriendly staff member. Our room steward was very helpful, and my grandchildren loved the dining room staff. If we had any problems, and we had a couple, they were handled immediately.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Harmony is a large ship and the ship was a full capacity (6500), but it did not feel crowded, except at mealtimes. It was very easy to navigate the ship. The ship was incredibly clean. You've never seen cleaner public bathrooms in your life.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Our cabin was spacious (much like a hotel room), the beds were large and comfortable, and the bathrooms were also large. Much larger than I expected. I loved the balcony, and spent a lot of time reading there. Considering the rooms are in constant use year round, the rooms were in incredibly good condition, and very clean.
We took a water taxi to the beach, but the beach was very crowded. There were four large cruise ships (6000+ capacity) in port. We were able to find a couple of beach chairs, and the everyone enjoyed the beach. The water was warm. Be prepared to be approached constantly on the main walkway by people trying to sell you something, or rent you a beach chair, but we only encountered one person who could be characterized as aggressive.
We visited the San Cristobal and El Morro forts. They are administered by the U.S. Park Service, and are definitely worth the visit. They are very well maintained and inexpensive ($10). Don't bother taking a taxi, because it is within walking distance. There were police officers on every corner. I imagine to protect tourists from muggers, so you might not want to wander to far from port.
Coco Cay is an amazing water park. The beaches and pools were uncrowded, and my grandchildren loved the park. There is a couple eating places on the island, and the food was excellent. This was by far the best stop we made on the cruise. Royal Caribbean really built a great facility.
