Our first cruise, and it was amazing! We may have ruined it for ourselves though. We chose an Oasis class ship as our first cruise. Cruising on a smaller ship may take some getting used to now! Lol. Just kidding
Embarkation

It was not bad. We purchased "The Key" program which gave us access to a special entrance so we could avoid the craziness. The special entrance was hard to find, not easily marked. We had to ask several people where it was. Once we found it, all was well. At that point, we were on the ship in around 10 min.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining

The food on Harmony was incredible. We ate in 2 specialty restaurants and the main dining room, and everything was great.
Onboard Activities

My wife got a pedicure and manicure at Vitality, she came out loving the experience. Also did bingo, once. Once you sit down you'll immediately see that you're out of your league. Some veterans were buying 8 sheets, had there own table, I mean Im sitting there watching in awe as these people thought they won a major poker tournament! It was fun, but to win you have to spend alot of money on cards
Entertainment

Bolero was great. The Ice Show was my favorite. It was simply amazing. There was also a Vegas style singer one night, he was good. We booked alot of shows but didn't go to some. Either tired, too full from eating, or just found something else to do. Oh, the water show was ok. A bit bizarre, not sure what the theme was about. But the acrobats were great. Went to see Grease, the show. My least favorite. Too long, and I'm just not a fan of musicals. But if that's your thing, you'll love it.
Service and Staff

Dee, our cabin steward was the best! Every waiter in every restaurant was great! Florentina, our waitress at Jamie's Italian was PHENOMENAL! she was the star of the cruise.
Ship Quality

Huge ship! If you've never cruised on an oasis class ship there is nothing I can say here to prepare you for what you are about to experience. Sometimes you have to go outside to remind yourself that your on a ship. Mornings and late evenings, you can walk around and it seems like you're the only one onboard. It does get crowded mid day, and at parade time though. The ship was clean, top to bottom. Hand sanitizer stations everywhere. I did notice that on the last day they stopped refilling them. The ships design is so that you can get from one end to the other and experience the many communities along the way. Restrooms were always clean. Promenade was never dirty, not even with all the people walking thru it all day.
Cabin / Stateroom

Ocean view balcony cabin. Perfect for 2 people. Our steward, Dee, was incredible! He was fabulous the entire cruise. The cabin sleeps 4, but any more than 2 people may seemed cramped. The views were amazing. This was our first cruise, so everything was beyond belief.
Ship tip
Book a dinner in the Solarium Bistro. Reservations for dinner are required. But it's FREE!
Let me just say that I LOVE SAN JUAN! The people, the streets, the colorful buildings, the food! I could walk Old San Juan all day. I don't understand why RC leaves this port so soon. We left there like @230pm I think. But the town is brimming with nooks and crannies to explore.
This port had several nice shops to browse. Pretty much anything you wanted. Lots of alcohol to buy. I wanted to buy several but wasn't sure how the cruise line or customs would handle it. Cigars, clothing, some places to eat. We didn't take any excursions at this port. But alot of people did. Unless you do an excursion, you won't stay off the ship long. But everything was clean.
FAST. we had "luggage valet", so we walked off the ship with nothing in tow. Customs was a breeze because our bags were already on the way to the airport.
Yea... Once you go Oasis class, its a tough thing to go back to a smaller ship! We shall see. We are doing a 4 day on the Carnival Liberty. And 14 day transatlantic on the NCL Escape. Only booked those as the price was too good to pass up! Lol. We shall see how it goes...
Glad to hear you had a great time, and welcome to the cruise family!! 😃
