Harmony of the Seas

7 Night Eastern Caribbean (Ft. Lauderdale Roundtrip)

Sail date: January 20, 2019

Ship: Harmony of the Seas

Cabin type: Inside

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

The cruise was an absolute delight. The food, service, and entertainment were top-notch. There was always something to do, or a place to do nothing at all. I would very gladly sail on the Harmony again.

The wait in line seemed longer than previous experiences, but we survived

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Dining in the main dining room is always a delightful experience. I've gotten kind of tired of the buffet, but maybe that's just me. My one criticism is the poor beer selection. When they have dozens of fine wines and mixed drinks, why do they have such boring beer? IPA please!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Our favorite activity was lounging in the solarium and doing as little as possible. At age 66, I still loved the water slides. (Didn't try the Abyss.) Trivia sessions were a lot of fun.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
So much, so good. "Columbus the Musical" was a riot. Good as it was, I would enjoy seeing something other than "Grease." I loved the jazz musicians in "Jazz on Four."

Jazz on 4

5 out of 5

As one who appreciates the genre, it was a pleasure to be able to hear jazz so often in such an intimate venue. Thanks for making good jazz available on the ship.

Children's Programs

We didn't travel with children.

Service and Staff

As always, too good to believe.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
They have succeeded in their goal of making a huge ship seem not-too-big. Central Park was our favorite place.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We know better than to expect a large room. For its size, it was very well designed, allowing two people to co-exist. Besides, we spend as few waking hours in the cabin as possible. To save money, we chose a room overlooking Central Park. Watching people stroll through the park is fun, but not as much fun as seeing the ocean and the islands.

Ship tip

You might want to bring your own shampoo.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

With plenty of time between getting off the ship and our flight home, we took a tour of the area. Very interesting tour with a great tour guide.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

5 out of 5
A perfect day at the beach, with a little shopping. I know from a previous visit that interesting tours are available.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

4 out of 5
My regret is that the time there was so short. We had to be back on the ship by 1:30. Our tour was interesting, but not the greatest.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

Another perfect beach day.

Disembarkation

My luggage was lost for a while, causing us to worry about making our bus tour. The crew did work hard at finding it and we made it to the bus.
