Review summary
I am not a diva but have come to expect being spoiled on my cruises as I have always had great experiences with staff and food on most our cruises and expected that again from RC. This is our 3rd RC and the ship is beautiful, almost identical in offerings as the Oasis, and has a lot of activities. Great water and non water slides, escape room, trivia, puzzles, scavenger hunts, demonstrations, bingo, etc etc! Columbus, Grease, and the ice show were not good and leave a bitter taste in my mouth. Foul language, obscene gestures, costume malfunctions, and poor production overshadowed the fabulous comedians, juggler, and incredible diving shows. The food was sub standard on this cruise. There was no variety all the restaurants served the same food and just rotated the same dishes in and out of the buffets and menus. We did pay the upcharge to eat at Izumi and I can highly recommend that benihana style. The food was abundant, delicious, and service was friendly and enjoyable. We attended the Chefs table and service was fabulous yet the food was just ok. It ran very long...3.25 hours instead of the 2 hours it was scheduled. The ship had many design flaws. Our suite had a tight, skinny bathtub that was harder to maneuver and smaller than our friends shower. Our tub door only reached 1/3 of the way across the tub so the floor was soaked every time we showered. There was an area in our suite that had nothing in it and it would have been perfect for a table or even a few suitcase stands. Our closet smelled like dirty feet. Our towels were old and shredded. We value the relationships we develop with our room stewards yet this room steward never introduced herself, never asked if we needed anything, and only spoke to us when we asked her questions about herself. Labadee was wonderful as the people of Haiti made the trip for us. They were very down to earth and treated us as welcome guests in their country. The ship had a buffet and lots of activities such as zip lines, water activities, and bus tours. Falmouth was a very small town and not much to do but shop at the port so we took a local cab into Montego Bay and learned alot about the culture. There were some fabulous staff on board yet our overall experience was disappointing enough that we are looking at other cruise lines for our next vacations.Embarkation
