Review summary

We decided to disembark as late as possible (around 9:15am) since our flight was not until 2pm. This might have been a mistake on our part since it took over an hour to disembark. We were off the ship within minutes, but had long lines to get our luggage and then long lines to reach customs. There were a limited number of officers at customs. If there is a middle line after getting your luggage, I recommend getting in that line since it moves much faster than the lines on the sides.

Embarkation

Embarkation was very quick, even with having to retake pictures.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was okay. We have definitely had better. We were very disappointed about the food options after 9pm. On previous cruises, the Windjammer was open later at night for snacks, but not on this cruise. Also, the food in the Windjammer was always the same, which can be good and bad.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The zipline, rock climbing wall, ultimate abyss, and flowrider were fun. However, there were limited hours for these activities, especially on port days, which limited the time to enjoy these activities.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The ice shows and aqua shows were exciting, even though the storylines were a little weird! Grease was great! Columbus had great music, but a weird and corny storyline. The comedians on this cruise were very entertaining and funny.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward Maricar was very nice. Our waiters, Kevin & Jin, in the Grande dining room were excellent and went above and beyond to meet our needs.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
We always saw crew members fixing up the ship and keeping it freshly painted. The one thing we did not like about the ship's layout was the smoking area was by the Sports Pool, which if you want to avoid the kid's pool area, you have to walk right through the smoking area. Also, you have to walk through the smoking part of the casino to get to the nonsmoking part, which does not make much sense. You can also smell the smoke coming out of the casino on deck 4.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The bed is by the balcony in this stateroom. The beds are hard. I believe the shower was bigger than on previous ships. The balcony was nice and spacious, especially since we had the balcony open with the connecting stateroom (12710), which had family members staying in it.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

4 out of 5
It is a very short drive from Fort Lauderdale airport to Port Everglades. We used Uber and got to and from the port quickly without extra fees.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

4 out of 5
We just did shopping at the port this time, but visited Mullet Bay previously and loved it.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

3 out of 5
We just walked around San Juan and it was nice. However, we are very limited on what we can do since we are only in port from 7am to 1pm. We wish the ship would change their itinerary and stay in San Juan longer.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

4 out of 5
Labadee is very nice. We took the ferry at the dock to Columbus Cove. It had very calm waters and soft sand. You did not need water shoes for this particular beach. It also had lots of chairs under in the shade, which was very nice. We also stopped at the splash pad on our way back, which was nice for kids.
