Review summary

Overall everything was good. Had a few issues with finding our luggage once delivered to floor. Couple issues with onboard account, which was resolved immediately. It was amazing being on this current largest cruise ship at sea. My only complaint about the design of this ship is there is no public place you can be inside, relaxing in air conditioning, with windows to see the ocean. Lots of open air places and tons of places to sit outside. Loved the Solarium!  Food and service excellent

This was an interior balcony room overlooking Central Park. Music was played down below most nights. Nice to sit on balcony and listen. Be aware though, you can see right into cabins across the park and they can see you! So curtains had to be closed more than I would have liked.

Ship tip

We made as many reservations online or on the a Royal IQ once boarded as we could, for shows and dinner, but it really didn't seem to be a problem getting a seat when we did not have a reservation.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

We stayed at the Residence Inn Cruise Port. Free shuttle from FLL airport and $8 pp shuttle to cruise port.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

We rented the beach lounger for 2. We had our own little section of beach but discovered it was nicer on the other side, in the cove area where you can see the ship. Water calmer and lots of shady places to sit. Drinks at the bar were more expensive that buying from guys walking around with trays of drinks. Food was good.

Falmouth, Jamaica

Did Bamboo Beach day excursion. Our guide Harmony, was wonderful. Food good, drinks-not so much. Beach just okay. Water murky.

Cozumel, Mexico

We did not have an excursion planned, but I had researched Playa Uvas. A $12 taxi ride each way. $15 pp entrance fee includes 1 drink. This was a wonderful place for snorkeling. Fish right off shore. Very hard to get in water because of reef right at water, but they did have an entrance ramp to make it easier. The employees feed the fish so there were lots to see. They also do a 30 minute guided snorkeling tour. Fun day. I was snorkeling the whole time. Not a place to just play in water, though, because of rocks and reef.

Only major downside of the big RCL ships. All the action in the middle of ship. May never see the ocean if you don't have an outside balcony cabin. Knowing that, book accordingly

Agree there should be indoor lounge or sitting type areas to escape heat or humidity. Strange!!
