Review summary

This was our first cruise but we have always wanted to try it.  The entire experience was very disappointing, from the food quality to bar service to activities.  I really don't understand what all the fuss is about?  It felt like being in a mall on Deck 5 and unless you like to shop for their crap or sit around and people watch, it was not very exciting.  The shows were top notch and we did enjoy them.  The food was very sub-par unless you wanted to pay extra to eat at the paid restaurants.  We have been at some of the best resorts around the world and felt that this cruise experience was not a first class experience for the price.  Not to mention the way they nickled and dimed you every single day.  AND when we returned home after checking my statement, they also tried to sneak charges on.  We all had the deluxe beverage package but still tried to charge in the dining room for drinks that I had to call and clear up.  The spa sent $500 worth of skin care products to our room saying my husband wanted them (which he most certainly did not), I had to go and return those.  Just a very disappointing vacation.  We will not be cruising again.

Room was very nice and well appointed. Our steward was very attentive. Bottled water is NOT included and they will charge you extra. (as just about everything on this ship is extra).

Ship tip

Do your research and PLAN AHEAD. The lines are ridiculous to schedule anything and you will pay more if you want to get on the ship.

Just my opinion hopefully this experience does not put you off on cruising...but I think maybe you should have tried a smaller ship first...the big ships tend to be less personalized...my first cruise was on the Liberty of the Seas she's big but the service and food was better...my second cruise was the Oasis of the Seas we loved all the bells and whistles but the food wasn't as good as Liberty's...but we looking forward to cruising on the Harmony next year...like I said don't let this experience turn you off...you never know your next cruise might be the total opposite and be outstanding, like cece1951 said...try Celebrity (they are a subsidiary of Royal Caribbean) but ship crowds are smaller...hang in there don't give up on cruising yet!!!!

Don't let it get you too discouraged from trying other lines. We started out with Carnival and now have moved on to Norwegian. We did the Norwegian Gem and it was the best cruise we'd ever been on out of all the cruises we've done. Give it another shot!

If you want to try another cruise line that won't disappoint try Celebrity.

If you don't get off an Oasis Class ship Wowed, then as twangster says, cruising just isn't for you. Maybe try an all inclusive resort next time. Good luck!

Cruising isn't for everyone. At least you've tried it and now you know.
