Review summary

If it were not for Labadee I would have asked for my money back. The live bands and dancers were friendly, entertaining, and gave a real Haitian vibe. I loved the floating bar, the swings, etc.. I was at the kids splash Parc enjoying myself like a child. Labadee was so fun!

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Thus was nearly non existent. For the entire trip, there was one professional staged performance. We were left to self entertain with offers like karaoke, name tgat tune, finish the lyric, love and marriage. While these are ok as alternate options but it was low class entertainment as the only options.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
My room steward lady was strange. She tried hard to be nice but it did not come off as natural. My dining room waiter was great, friendly, superb!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship is old and it showed in its limitations. However it was clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Although it was an old ship, there is no excise for not doing some updates like replace outlets to include USB access and keeping around old and really scratched furniture. My sofa and little round coffee table needs to move to the surplus lot for a garage sale.

Ship tip

Keep up with the time.

Too commercialized.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
OMG this saved the trio. Labadee offered so much for the whole family. Loved the lounges, the many beaches, zip lining, coaster, tour rides, the Haitian flea market, the dancers, the live music. However, we were in Haiti but no efforts were make to allow us to sample actual Haitian cuisine. This is a private island so Royal Caribbean has full control to create the space and hire Haitian cooks to run the restaurant under their supervision. Also know your space, know your country and know the culture - jerk chicken is a Jamaican dish and reggae is part of Jamaican culture. While ok for an island vibe, it's not ok as a Haitian stop only offering. It demonstrates a lack of knowledge of cultures, lack of efforts in authenticity. If you can hire a chef to make Jamaican food in Haiti, you can get one to make Haitian food instead and save the Jamaican offerings for the stops in Jamaica. Also hire some tour guides or train the drivers to provide some info about the island. We travel to relax, enjoy, and LEARN about other cultures.
