I was very disappointed in the kids club. Their 1997 award of being the best kids club posted by the kids club entrance was very sad. My kids are very well versed in travel and kids clubs, to say this one is lacking doesn't even begin to cover it. They would have been better off saying it was closed, then it just being a kid corral. I would not recommend this ship for kids. There are minimal activities at best for kids.
Let me just say, my kids had to be picked up because of the crazy hours and ended up, going to an art auction.
Embarkation

Drawn out, and no orientation or direction once on board.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining

The buffet was very blan, had some variety. Food was brought out and refilled regularly. The main dinning was ok, dinner was an 1hr 1/2 every night. A little long for elementary school kids.
The food was better than that of the Windjammer's Cafe, but not by much.
Onboard Activities

Well we went swimming once, deck 9 was a slippery mess. The kids wanted to do rock climbing but because of weather we did not go rock climbing.
Entertainment

My husband and I went to a few karaoke events, the staff was rude, shut down the program 1hr on the dot. More people wanted to dance and sing, a total buzz kill.
Children's Programs

OMG! And not in a good way! The kids club had a cool nautical
submarine tunnel and slide, but the kids could not play on it. A side from bead crafts and coloring, they also did some activities with the staff. However the overall vibe was oh your not that excited go get ice cream. The ship tried to fix everything with ice cream. The hours were very annoying, 9-12,
2-5, 7-10. So if mom and dad wanted to do an all day no kid excursion it would not be possible. That made us have to shift somethings in our vacation
Service and Staff

Our room attendant was nice, but in our room and space too much for my personal comfort. I prefer my room to be attended to and left. I don't need to be friends with the staff, or have the staff interacting with my children.
Ship Quality

It was very confusing, and dated.
Cabin / Stateroom

Our suite was nice, 2 room 2 bath, living room and a big open balcony.
The beds were decent, again no one went over our room or amenities . . .
Ship tip
Go to Guest Services, and make sure you get your drink cups, and any add on you paid for 1st thing. Also watch that spending account, and don't forget about the small print with built in ship gratuities that they will charge. That can be up to $18.50 per person per day. YIKES!!
We did the Monster Jeep tour. The ruins we saw were very small rubble light houses. The ligh house was not worth the stop. The beach and the snorkeling was good.
It was fast and easy, our luggage was all there, our concierge lead us to the front of the line which was great. The only thing was we had to walk a few blocks to get an Uber. They are not allowed at the port.
Thanks for the review. It’s always a good idea to research the age of the ship, the last refurbishment, what amenities are on the ship, what is and is not included in the base fare, etc. when choosing a cruise. YouTube offers excellent videos where you can see most venues. It sounds like this may have been your first cruise since you were surprised by the daily gratuities charge.
