Review summary

We are “boomer” cruisers with grown children. This ship and cruise was a perfect fit for us. We will be back cruising with Royal Caribbean again soon.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Port parking and shuttle to the terminal was smooth and fast. We arrived about 15 minutes ahead of our arrival time of 11:30.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We had “the Key” program and enjoyed a Chops Grill lunch upon arrival in the main dining room. We asked for the late seating for dinner and each night had the most wonderful experience with our Head Waiter, Ronel and his assistant, Delroy. The food was very nice and each dinner entree was prepared to our liking. Breakfast was also very enjoyable. We usually had a light lunch in the Windjammer.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
EVERYONE we encountered - from Crisanto, our cabin steward, to Ronel and Delroy, our wait staff in the main dining room, the coffee shop, the crown & anchor staff, all were helpful, professional and eager to help with any requests.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
We like the smaller ships in the fleet. More low-key. Although Grandeur is older, she is well maintained. Handrails were being varnished, painting and maintenance was ongoing. We also saw crew working to refresh lifejacket storage on the Boat Deck and work on other safety equipment as well.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was very clean and well maintained. Plenty of storage for all our stuff and the bags we brought on board.

Ship tip

If you want a nice, fun trip, without a lot of the crowds, frills and toys the larger ships provide, this ship is for you.

Ports of call

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

3 out of 5
The people were nice, but the stop just isn’t up to par with Cozumel and other destinations Royal calls on. It seems like the optimal excursions for this port are the Mayan ruins. Not the beaches…..

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
The snorkel and beach break was an excellent excursion. The beach was amazing!
