We hated to see this cruise end. Look forward to sailing again on Lady G.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Efficient and easy. Friendly agents.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We had some hits and misses but overall very good. The Windjammer does not have a lot of selection and, in port, is your only option except for Park Cafe. I prefer Park because you don't have to fight the crowd to find a seat. Their hand carved sandwiches are terrific.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
The solarium pool was empty for two full days which was a disappointment. We don't know why but it should not have happened. I think both days we were in port but not everyone leaves the ship. We notice an improvement in the temperature (increased!) in the hot tubs since our last cruise. Also, on the up side, as always, Grandeur does a wonderful tribute to veterans and first responders. I'm not sure there was a dry eye in the room. Well attended and appreciated.
Logo Souvenir Shop
5 out of 5
I have to give kudos to the kind cashier at the shop. I was looking at the lanyards to replace one in which the "jewels" fell off after buying it the same shop last sailing. She gave me a new one and I was thrilled by the gesture.
Casino Royale
4 out of 5
Casino had new slots and $10 min blackjack. However, the ratings that they give on blackjack play does not seem fair.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Much of the entertainment was a repeat of the shows from five months ago so no surprises here.
Centrum
5 out of 5
The R Bar in the Centrum has friendly service and the Centrum itself is elegant and enjoyable. Overnight the Centrum was decorated for the Fourth of July in spectacular fashion.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Waitstaff was very attentive and when on one night we had problematic service and food due to an event, the heat waiter, Sudhir made up for it the next night with complementary surf and turf. It happens but it was perfectly handled.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
We have been on Grandeur a number of times and knew what to expect. We love the ship. However, I've reduced to a 4 star because there was a bank of elevators out for the whole cruise and I understand the previous cruise as well. They are replacing the elevators which did need to be done but it was at the expense of the guests on this cruise. Also, they replaced the large screen at the pool during the cruise and while it was spectacular when completed by the last day, it resulted in a lot of banging and noise at the pool as well as cordoned off areas for days in port and at sea. That is a real disappointment,.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
We stayed in 2 Bdrm Grand Suite. The balcony was immense with four lounge chairs and a sizable table and four more chairs. They added a TV in the smaller bedroom which was welcome. Master bathroom similar in size to Jr. Suite. Small bathroom similar to a balcony cabin. Large living room with sofa bed, although uncomfortable to sit on and three chairs and two ottomans and a small coffee table. Plenty of room for 4 to 6. More if children. However, this cabin had intermittent problems with the AC and it was never resolved after several calls to maintenance. Cabin attendant Ricardo kept the room spotless.
Ship tip
After four sailings on the Grandeur we are always happy to be back home. Lady G is elegant (note the Centrum) and they are the friendliest crew.
We did a pub crawl on Duval Street and had a wonderful time with lots to sample at the five pubs we stopped at. It was a RCCL excursion and we would do it again!
