Review summary

We had a great time! I like children, but didn't mind at all that there weren't hundreds of them running around the ship. This cruise seems to attract more mature passengers and that is just right for those of us in the 60+ age frame. There was plenty to do if you wanted to stay busy, and also lots of time to just relax and enjoy being quiet. I do wish there had been more late night performers, we have always enjoyed the various comics on previous cruises and missed this since there were only performan

The process was quick and seamless. From the time we dropped of our luggage it was only about 20 minutes and we were on the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Meals in the dining room were excellent. We ate dinner in the Chops Steakhouse one night and that was also excellent.

Onboard Activities

The belly flop competition was hoot to watch!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Both comics were very funny. The tenor, Darryl Williams was incredible. The singers & dancers were lively and the shows were fun to watch. The cruise director, John Blair, put on a wonderful Neil Diamond tribute show. NOTE: we were a little disappointed that there were not late night shows every night. We have been on several cruises and there are usually more shows in the "adult" time frame 10pm and so.

Service and Staff

The dining room staff was top notch. Our waiter, Deni (sp?) was courteous and friendly. His assistant, Robin, was very engaging and attentive. There was a mix up with table assignments. We were with a party of 12 and all of us had called RC several times to confirm that we would be seated together at the same table. The first night we were seated at two different tables, 6 each. The head waiter got this straightened out and we were all seated together for the remainder of the cruise. With that said, the waiter we had at our table for 6 the first night was the most personable and more fun than anyone we have ever had on any cruise! Yogesh (Yogi) provided great service and made us laugh during the entire meal. His assistant, Marilyn was really nice as well.

Ship Quality

I like the Grandeur as it is not so huge as some of the other ships we have sailed on. Much easier to find my way around! I do wish the seating in the Palladium Theater would be changed. I am not a skinny woman, but was by no means the largest person there... The seats are very small and uncomfortable. This particular cruise seems to attract an older clientele and it would be nice if the seating was more comfortable.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin was very comfortable and well appointed. The shower was small, but that is to be expected. Our cabin steward, Cornelius, kept everything very clean and he was very friendly. I found the bed to be very hard and uncomfortable and slept on the couch instead. I got good sleep on the couch so it was not an issue. My husband thought the bed was just right and he slept very well.

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland

Got on the ship, got off the ship. Not much more to say.

King's Wharf, Bermuda

We had a wonderful time in Bermuda. We took the 8pm "Bermuda Triangle Glass Bottom Boat" tour and really enjoyed it. The next day we hired a private taxi and took a 4 hour driving tour around the island.

Charleston, South Carolina

The port itself was a little shabby and the falling down building adjacent to it really detracted from the overall feel of the place. We enjoyed walking through the Charleston Market and then took a horse-drawn wagon tour around the city. I would definitely like to go back and explore Charleston more!

Disembarkation

Very smooth, no hitches at all.
