Review summary

I would not take this ship again I will check on other cruises and other tours groups before I book. the ship is very old and the most of stat room bathrooms all smell and some parts of the ship has a bad odor. I was disappointed with the cruise I have been on several other cruise and all have been great but this ship and the food were below average the $15 per day tips per person you are charged was more then the service we received, then everyone expected more on all drinks and other items. extra charge for coffee, water or ice in our room we had the beverage package $14 a day but had go to the bars to get drinks.

Also I doubt that ALL staterooms smelled of sewage. I have heard this complaint of many ships from time to time, and even newer ships. I’ve been on many cruises, but I haven’t been on one for a few years, but did room stewards stop filling your ice bucket? And in the past if my bed was hard I simply asked for an egg crate mattress and different pillows if I desired them. Always have been accommodated. Seems like there might have been some steps you could have taken to make things better.

Would have liked to know which other cruises you say you have been on. Your profile doesn’t list any. I do know, that personally I’ve found some deterioration of some things, but the old adage still holds true that you get what you pay for. Buffets are just buffets. Overall quality of buffets and MDR has declined over the years, but from what I have read, that is a complaint of most all mainstream cruise lines.

Just got off ship today. Stayed on the 3rd floor and yes there was a odor from the shower drain and could smell it sometimes in the cabin. Like a sewage smell

Not sure how you determined that "most of the stat room bathrooms all smell". I've been on Grandeur many many times and never experienced that. Love the Grandeur.

Grandeur’s crew is the best. Really awesome. We had a blast in June.

Been on the Grandeur four or five times and going again next year. Never had a problem. They are known for having the best crew in the fleet. Sorry you didn’t have a good time, but the Grandeur is a well loved lady.

You didn't have to go to the bar to get sodas, they have machines. Secondly. Considering how many people benefit from the tips, the $15 is worth every penny.

I look at every cruise buffet as mediocre, so I never expect too much from that. We got the 3 restaurant package and extended to 5. So half of our 10 night cruise we ate in the restaurants because we weren’t in love with the free food options. I still think about Izumi & Giovanni’s (so good!). I might go back on the Grandeur just for those two restaurants alone. Chops was decent too, but we loved the other 2 more. Their room service was really good as well (but that’s when it was free). I will agree with you about the beds. They were pretty hard. There was also sewer smells in the hallway, but as long as it wasn’t in my room or where I eat I was okay. I also enjoyed the movies every afternoon in the palladium theater (I didn’t watch too many movies outside cause it rained a lot during my cruise at night). I agree it does need a little updating, but I would still go back (just not as long as before , maybe 7 nights). I hope your next cruise will be better! 🙂

I have sailed on the Grandeur several times. 5 of my next 6 cruises are on her. Great service from an excellent crew. Outstanding food in Chops, Giovanni’s as well as the main dining room. I have never had a bad odor in any of the Suites that I have sailed. Sorry for your bad cruise, but don’t blame the ship.
