Review summary

We like going out of the local port. It doesn't involve long drives or making connections and flights. Yeah, for some destinations you will be on the ship longer than if you went to Florida. But think of it this way - unless you live in Florida, you're going to spend a day getting there and a day coming back. Wouldn't you rather be somewhere that you can get up and walk around any time you want or take uninterrupted naps? Plus they FEED you.

The cabins are small, so be prepared. They do have lots of cubby holes and drawers to put you things in, so I always unpack, then try to squeeze my suitcase somewhere.

Ship tip

Its a smaller ship, so don't go in with the expection of having the same ammenities as the giant ones. On the other hand, it doens't feel crowded and the crew really go out of their way.

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland

Skip wearing yourself out going to the Smithsonian museums. Go to the Inner Harbor and have fun instead. Have your camera ready when the ship sets sail, it squeezes under 2 bridges and you'll want to experience it.

Boston, Massachusetts

Lots to do in this town. We should have taken the Hop On/Hop Off bus, It is a very walkable town, so you might want to walk to the next site instead of ride. The harbor area is getting more upscale.

Portland, Maine

We enjoyed our trip to the lighthouses, could have spent more time at them.

Bar Harbor, Maine

Our favorite port. We did an Acadia National Park tour. Take the carriage ride if you want to get away from the crowds.

Saint John, New Brunswick

Take the Big Pink Bus and tour at your leisure. Before you go, check the times for the Reversing Falls, the locals are kind of immune to it and don't pay it much attention.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

The water tours take you the same path that the cruise ship travels, so you wont see anything different. The harbor is really nice and has a variety places to sit or have a picnic lunch.
