Review summary

We enjoyed our cruise with adult children and grandchildren to Bermuda. We were too late booking this cruise to get the staterooms we wanted. The ship is old. There are issues with the air conditioning in the staterooms---either freezing or too warm. The service in the buffet has disappeared. No one is there to serve your drinks or refill your drink needs. I was disappointed in the overall quality of the food on the ship. We ate in the dining room, the Chops Grill and in the Windjammer buffet. The staff are friendly and sincerely want to please you. The grandkids loved the rock climbing wall, shuffleboard, pool and hot tubs. I learned how important it is to book early and get the rooms you need to be truly comfortable!

Air conditioner problems! Smaller than most mini suites on other ships. Felt really old.

Ship tip

Bring a warm sweater! Spend time up on the pool deck and enjoy the views! The staff go out of their way to make your cruise special! Go to the captains talk and ask questions! That was very illuminating and fun!

I know the ship is scheduled for a dry dock in 2017 if you look for the gap in sailings.

Yep, gottcha there. Not much RCCL can do, as they have no control, port pilot takes in and out, pilot house at 2nd bridge, I believe. They are committed to Baltimore through 2018 they said at the "ask the captain" program onboard. Doubt ole Granduer will do more than 14 knots in smooth water

That's because all ships go through the bay slow. One time on the Pride we got back to port about 6 Hrs earlier than we were supposed to. There was a medical emergency. I was under the impression that ships couldn't move fast through the bay. We always lose time (Bermuda) because of the bay. Compare arrival and departure times with Jersey and N.Y. ports. Plus the 1st bridge the Key Bridge is the reason we cant have much larger than the Grandeur. I love leaving out of B'more, it's my home port. 😊

We were n 8042 few months ago, no issues, were woken about 3:30 am by Captain saying fire has been put out, did not have a clue what he was talking about:). My only issue was time taken to clear 2nd bridge(about 8 hours)

We've been on this ship many times and loved it; that is until last time (4/2014). We had many issues especially in the room. Think it was 4067 which is the same area as our other cruises. The plumbing was awful. We are trying again 10/31! This time we are going to a smaller room, 4023! I know, can there be smaller! So; my question is what room did you have? Any other recent Grandeur cruisers;same question, how was plumbing?

Sorry you did not card for the food service, and also a little surprised. Our last sailing on Granduer few months ago was great, plenty of service in Windjammer. Yep, booking early does have its advantages, being space is somewhat limited
