Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
Food was a C- with exception of crown grill which was an A
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Worst activities of all the cruises we've been on... they consider shopping at Effy an activity. Music not appropriate to age group of passengers.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
Poor.
Children's Programs
No codename with us. Very few in cruise at all
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Waited and bartenders were wonderful. Room service was a big disappointment for us. They have changed to once per day room service. We never knew when she would come but most often after 2pm. We are used to have am service of making the bed and getting towels etc. One of our favorite things was to walk into our cabin in the evening and find the bed turned Down with the lights low and a chocolate on your pillow. Sometimes even an animal... this were our favorite but... no more.... that was a big disappointment for us. Some days we even made our own bed since it was so late when she would show up.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The ship is older and we knew that up front. We had been in her twice before and didn't really have a problem but this time the wear and tear was obvious. It was clean but not well maintained. Rusted pool deck areas.. Air Conditioning not working in multiple cabins on multiple floors.. floor drains in public areas jagged and gapping from floor. Paint chipping from walls. I do think it's scheduled for dry dock in April.
Cabin / Stateroom
1 out of 5
The cabin itself was small average but fine with the exception of room temp of 78... begot we even got to the hot parts of the cruise. Repeatedly called for assistance and after 4 days of unsuccessful attempts to get room to a cooler temp we were moved to C319 which was better but in day temp still went to 75 some days... cooler at night.. between 67..68 which was ok. At one point we had to open our balcony and put a chair to hold the cabin for open so there would be air moving in the cabin and cool it off. We were not the only ones with this problem. In a good note.. the linens were good.. pillows good and I'm a pillow snob... towels great. Sheets were good too but some were tired with small holes.
Ship tip
Be aware this ship is due for rehab. Wait until after April to sail on her. Also... the pizza was excellent...
Did your of LA with "a day in LA tours" and it was great. Was about 104 per person. we were picked up at our hotel at 830am and finished our tour at 6pm... didn't stay long at the places but enough to see the top sites and get a good overview of the city.
