Review summary

I’m not sure I will cruise Princess again, but it was a very enjoyable experience and smoothest waters I’ve ever experienced. The area around the ports was quite beautiful on this itinerary. Excursions were pricey. Some evenings entertainment and dining were not spaced well with timing. The ship was very quiet. As stated earlier, embark and debark were excellent.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
This was the fastest, easiest, smoothest embark ever....I’ve cruisednj three other lines.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Didn’t try speciality restaurants ...$$$$$$...had anytime dining and MDRs were fine. Menu was varied but maybe less so than other cruise ships. Buffet was als more spread out, very rigid with hand washing and movement of passengers into Buffet area. The only negative was when I ordered an omelet and it took an inordinate amount of time in what didn’t seem to be an especially busy time. Had to ask about it twice. Also there wasn’t much table service in buffet area. The coffee was was worse than BAD!!!

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Fitness center, sanctuary, pool, trivia, mid morning games in atrium Yes enjoyed all activities in which I participated. Don’t feel that flags and movie posters are good trivia options.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Saw the three production shows, the guest entertainer...Mercury Rising, and the comedian, Simon. Enjoyed all shows and performances. Seating is a problem in the main theater. Musicians performing all over the ship were excellent.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Staff and service in general, was not exemplary but no complaints. Several staff were attentive at times. The buffet service was a bit lacking but the staff in The Sanctuary was outstanding.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Ship was clean...areas looked old and worn. Atrium was very nice. Theater design was great. Good seats..

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
The cabin was very clean, roomy for our needs, quite comfortable. I liked the layout of the clothing/closet area. Didn’t ask for, but felt more towels should have been provided.....without asking. The temperature in the cabin only, was quite controllable and therefore comfortable. The rest of the ship could freeze meat.

Ship tip

Take a coat....socks....for evenings out.

Ports of call

Melbourne, Australia Did not visit port

I stayed in Melbourne for a week before cruise but didn’t visit it as cruise passenger.

Adelaide, Australia

4 out of 5
Big city feel...historic... enjoyed the shopping and beauty.

Port Lincoln, Australia

2 out of 5
Did not purchase excursions, felt they were too expensive and not much offerings in the way of variety or appeal. The towns were too far from the ship and not enough transportation was offered for passengers to get to them.

Kangaroo Island, Australia

1 out of 5
Nothing there ....no cabs....no one offering any excursions outside the cruise excursions. Got off...walked around the block and back on the ship. People who visit Kangaroo Island ferry over with their car and spend a week.

Disembarkation

Was very easy and went as quick.y as you wished. Very long cab lines and $$$$
