Review summary
We chose this cruise because we wanted to cruise Glacier Bay! We were not disappointed! Golden Princess is an older ship that has been nicely updated. We chose a mini-suite because we planned on using our room for sightseeing. It was spacious and clean. It had two TVS which we utilized on cruise days. Glacier Bay was extraordinary. We had a port side room and had an awesome view of the glaciers . The ship does turn so it doesn't matter which side you are on. Our excursions were booked through Princess. We didn't see a big difference in price, liked their trips better and felt we were assured of the ship waiting for us if we were late. Went whale watching in Juneau. We saw humpback whales bubbling! Our tour guide said we had a seldom seen experience. We also saw killer whales! We then went to Mendehall glacier which was awesome and while there saw salmon running!
Our other tours were also great.
The he only negative was the lengthy boarding process. However our room was ready. We went to the international cage for lunch as recommended by other cruisers. Short line and good food. Came back there several times for lunch .
we thoroughly enjoyed the naturalist lectures and commentaries. A highlight of the trip.We would definitely cruise with Princess again.
