Review summary

This was my first Royal cruise & it will not be my last. Cruised with my brother since our spouses were not available. Had a really nice time. We’re normally Carnival cruisers and this, IMHO was night and day. Loved the process to board especially the app related muster info. Everyone we met was happy, friendly and smiling.

Embarkation

Had The Key and it made everything completely smooth. The stroll through security was a breeze and complete organized. My understanding is even w/o The Key it was very calm and easy.

The food and drink were excellent on this ship. The variety was excellent and the service even better.

What an amazing staff and a nice varied menu. I had the same team every night and they made everyone around us feel comfortable and happy. The food was delicious and there was something for everyone. One of the managers, Ventiy was such a gentleman and welcoming. Edwin our server even said, “He’s a very nice man.” And I knew he meant it.

Windjammer Marketplace

I’m not a fan of buffets but Royal does a great job in this venue. A lot of variety and while busy the dining area was kept clean. It also a nice place to sit between meals. I especially loved Mr and Ms Washy Washy at the entrance to remind people (who shouldn’t need reminding) to wash their hands.

Sorrentos Pizza

Is it the best pizza? No, however it was tasty and they had a nice variety. Don’t forget the small salads and antipasto plus desserts! Service was friendly.

Onboard Activities

I enjoyed the adult area pool though the humidity was so high I didn’t stay long. The fitness center was beautiful and the temp was appropriate for working out. I only visited the other onboard activities but all looked so fun! The area center ship for the littles was so cute and looked so fun!

Entertainment

Wow just wow! Ice show on a cruise ship? A parade? It was delightful. The talent was amazing.

Service and Staff

Room was always clean though we didn’t see our room steward until day two (he was the phantom to us). Every person we encountered was happy and friendly especially MDR, Pub, Sorrentos and Starbucks.

Loved the room. Would book this type of room again (promenade view). Two small sofas (one becomes a bed). King or two twins. Ample closet space.
