Review summary

The ship was Freedom of the Seas and the cruise date was from 04/17/2016 thru 04/24/2016.  The Services provided the main dinner dining area (Leonardo) were terrible, and its dinner menu of fish and meat had never been changed for at least four dinners. After talking about the same menu to a service woman, they were sending three different guys to me while we were having a dinner, and the three guys were asking a same question: how they could improve the dinner menu. For the four days in a row for fish, they provided only cod and salmon dishes without any changes. They should know how to improve rather than asking me while we were having dinner, which gave four of us stomach aches. Since then, we did not go to the main dinner restaurant any more due to family members’ rejection, but went to the cafeteria.

And, so many stuffs need to be improved: (1) Locking the door of the general dining area (cafeteria) on the near top floor (11th floor) from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm and after 9:00 pm.  So, it was impossible even to get water during the locking hours.  (2) Fake (Cheating) orange and lemonade juices in the glasses with more ice and water mixed, which were not the original juices. In other words, I had breakfasts without the orange juice for the first time for the 7 days. I simply couldn’t drink their so-called juices. I had many cruises, but this was the first time seeing fake juices out of more than 10 times of my cruises. (3) They need more training the service staffs all over the places including main and cafeteria dining and the cabin areas. One example, they rejected to filling water into a bottle. The service person can fill the water from their inside area. Strangely, the ship doesn’t have any water taps in the cafeteria area. Basically, they provided far much less polite services to the guests. We also had to ask to provide a cleaning service in the cabin even after 8:00 pm. (4) They should not try to collect Tip by leaving a donation envelop on the bed. They collected the tip already as part of cruise expenses, and they were trying to collect the Tips more than once.

There were many really good stuffs in the ship, but the service operations themselves destroyed their reputations. That’s why they should deserve just one Star rating for Freedom of the Seas.

Ship tip

it needs to find out better dining services from other ships or other cruise lines. In general, the Freedom of the Sears provides terrible services.

The review to me is worthless. Have heard and read way more positive reviews. Cannot wait to board the ship. Just updated within the past year so how can it be so awful?

I've been on 11 cruises with RCL have never had a bad one.

I understand completely. I have issues with the amount of people on here complaining about the gratuities. These are usually the people who go to a restaurant and think $1 is sufficent tip.

Chuck, I hope you have a great time. I have an issue w bad reviews written by people who have never cruised that say they have cruised. Too many tells in this review bit I understand what you are saying. Have a great time :-)

Everyone has a right to their opinion and how they write a review. Most everyone works hard for their money and have a right to voice their opinion. I don't understand people being hateful to others, if you have a great experience, that's awesome...write a review!! We're crusing for the first time next week on FOS. I hope it's all we're anticipating and more!!

I completely agree people should express their opinion but you must admit...it was a little over the top lol.

People are allowed to express their opinions, good or bad...hence the 1-5 star rating option.

I was on the ship the week before and the food was delicious both in the dining room and the buffet. In fact, I found it better than on Princess. There was plenty of water poured in the buffet but you also could've gotten it from the Coke machines. Perhaps cruising isn't the right fit for you.

A bit whiny are we? C'mon now, you were onboard a beautiful Royal Caribbean ship and all you're doing is pointing out what went wrong. I'm certain that a few problems didn't ruin the entire week.

You say you have cruised before but it is obvious you haven't...please don't cruise again w rc

Oh Boy ! Another Cheapskate complainer writing a book about all the mean and horrible things and people on his cruise. Meanwhile this Clown was probably more like cousin Eddie bringing a pillow case to the buffet. Two words Carnival Cruise !

Cruise ships are not able to refil water bottle due to sanitation issues. Go get a glass of water and refil your water bottle that way. Also, I myself, have seen the lemonade and orange juice freshly squeezed from real oranges and real lemons. Some juices are an up charge in packages. Tip envelopes are there for you to decided to give an extra tip to someone who went above and beyond.

Have you been on other cruises ? They don't fill bottles , if you want real juice it is included in the Royal replenish package but that would cost you money . The gratuities goes to numerous staff, the envelope is in case you feel that your service staff go above and beyond . Some people have high expectations .
