Review summary

Good cruise for the amount it cost. We did it on the Royal Caribbean "Explorer of the Seas", we would recommend you book a different newer ship as this one is dated and design is not optimal. Having the main pool broken out into 2 pools was not a great design and contributed to overcrowding.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very organized and fast despite the amount of people

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Windjammer and Main dining room provided excellent service and delicious food. Desiree and Devine were very attentive to our needs.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
The ship had 2 pools in the main area but it seemed like one of the pools was always closed which caused overcrowding in the other one.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainment was excellent. We recommend the Gaucho and ice skating performances! Elvis, the cruise director, also did an excellent job and provided great comedy as well.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Our granddaughter loved the adventure zone when we dropped her off. I highly recommend dropping kids off to be cared for while parents have a couple of hours to themselves!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service and Staff were excellent. They were always looking to make you feel welcomed and well taken care of!

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
The ship was clean but an older ship so the design was not the best. We stayed in forward deck 2 which did not connect across the whole ship; therefore, we were constantly walking up to deck 4 and across casino to get to elevators in the back part of the ship that could take us up to restaurants and vice versa when returning to our stateroom. Needless to say this became tedious by the end of the trip.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was very comfortable and surprisingly had more than enough storage cabinets for our clothes and stuff. This cabin also had a huge window (about 5 feet diagonal) compared to a previous one where it was about 2 feet diagonal.

Ship tip

Try to go on a cruise that is not super crowded as the one we booked was very crowded which made engaging in some activities or just finding a free lounge chair challenging.

Ports of call

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

5 out of 5
This was by far the best port of call. It has an amusement park and while the free stuff is great I would recommend you purchase the upgraded options.

Falmouth, Jamaica

5 out of 5
We did an excursion to blue waters beach and were very happy with it. We would recommend it. Great amenities and renting a cabana was only $80.00, well worth it.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

3 out of 5
This was an ok port to visit. It had good beach area but too much grassy area when you are swimming in it.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Despite a couple of mishaps, one of the 2 escalators not working and fire alarm on one of the decks during disembarkation, the process was very smooth and quick.
