This cruise was a great choice for my family. We enjoyed the majority of the ports and Holland America really wants you to feel at home on the ship. They treat all their customers with respect and we enjoyed the journey. Scotland was breathtakingly gorgeous and would go back in a second!

The cabin was nice and quiet. We couldn't hear our neighbors at all. A few really great bonuses: 1. the outlets are for both European and American plugs. Meaning that we didn't need to plug in a converter at all. Since they had American outlets, we didn't need to convert. That was nice. 2. the room came with a DVD player and ours broke during the middle of the cruise and the staff came and replaced it right away. No hassle. 3. the provide blankets for the balcony and room--this was nice because we love to sit on the balcony and watch some of the scenery go by.
Ship tip
They have daily Mass available which was a beautiful bonus for us.
You don't have to eat in the dining room on formal nights--the buffet dining room is open.
This town is beautiful with great prices on souveniours. Get a scone and a coffee!
We did a tour on one of the islands south of Lerwick--beautiful countryside.
We took the train into the city. To get to the train station you can walk through a mall--buy your water bottles in the Dollar stores in the mall. They were the cheapest water bottles we found the entire trip.
