Bermuda was beautiful. The ride...not so much.

Enchantment of the Seas

5 Night Bermuda (Baltimore Roundtrip)

Ship: Enchantment of the Seas

Cabin number: 4142

Traveled as: Family (young children)

Review summary

Loved the concept, hated the ride and the bed. I wanted more entertainment for my child who is under 12. Also didn't like the last-minute requirement to file an application with Bermuda to visit (with an additional $40 per person expense).

Embarkation

3 out of 5
The first day of sailing was ok. The ride felt like a continuous acceleration/deceleration experience. The way we encountered the waves led to people who generally don't feel seasick to become sick.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food for the most part was really good, and the servers were really good (until the end). Upon waiting to be called to deboard, the waiters were rood and a bit snippy. There were no signs detailing the breakfast at midship when arriving on the floor. One in particular was a bit snippy and his "humor" did not land well. It was quite disrespectful and rude.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Loved the Karaoke; but would have preferred for the children to have had their own amongst themselves.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Enjoyed the live entertainment!!!

Children's Programs

2 out of 5
The kids under 12 had only day-care type activities. They need entertainment and fun too...they're on vacation.

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
The room steward was awesome! The pool attendees were horrible.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
Definitely an aged ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The mattress was subpar and felt below camping grade.

Ship tip

Be sure to do the fine dining nightly. I was under the impression that it was "formal" with respect to attire. Luckily that was not the case.

Ports of call

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

4 out of 5
Cute and charming. Would've like to know more about the fun water boat from the other cruise line.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
Again, the short acceleration/deacceleration stints made for an uncomfortable ride. Then add the wave the next day at sea was not a good combination.

You rated the weather under disembarkation?

The $40 approval fee for Bermuda is done by Bermuda. Royal does not control that.

Research is your friend! Sorry you were disappointed, but you could have checked things out ahead of time. Was on her in April and staff was wonderful. Rough seas are hardly their fault. It is often rough from Baltimore.

Maybe you should have done a little more research on the ship before booking. You would have quickly found out that this ship doesn't have all the amenities of the newer ships, including designated areas geared towards each age group of kids.

The application for travel to Bermuda has been required by Bermuda Government since Covid-19. I was on this same cruise, I applied to Bermuda Government for travel and received my green approval for travel 2 months before embarkation day. I routinely check on travel requirements & protocols with local governments well before traveling.
