Review summary

This was a nice short cruise and on a smaller boat for a family reunion was good too. I would not necessarily have chosen it for myself but for what it was, it was a good choice. Because it was an older ship it did not have all of the bells and whistles of the newer ones, but it was nice to have a smaller crowd. They did not have a big promenade, but had enough smaller spaces to investigate to keep us busy for a few days. There was always plenty of room because there was less people.

Embarkation

Very easy and smooth, could not have been much easier.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food on this cruise was not as good as the other cruises we have been on on competitor's ships. The buffet was just OK on selection and taste and the food in the dining room was just OK as well. The service was outstanding however.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We took advantage of the adult pool, the bars and the trivia in different venues as well as the late night shows.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The first night's stage show left a lot to be desired. The second night however was much better. The 2 comedians were great, they were the best entertainers. The ships bands were also fun to listen to.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All of the personnel on this ship were exceptional. They were wonderful and made the time on the ship very nice. Specifically our steward and waiter and his assistant in the dining room were excellent.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
This is an obviously older ship but the inside has been kept up pretty well. Although the outside rust stains are noticeable, the inside has been maintained well.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The size was very nice, the overall comfort was good and cleanliness was a 10. The storage they have been able to get into this room is great. I was surprised as how much space they give you to store things. The draw back was the air conditioner. The first night and second night were fine, it never got quite cold in the room on the third night so we told the steward and he has someone come fix it that day. Then the fourth night it got freezing cold and the thermostat would not regulate the air to get warmer or colder so we froze but luckily were leaving the next morning.

Ship tip

We very much liked the my time dining where you could pick a time each night. We made it for one night, then changed it once onboard to be with family. It was nice not to have to wait in line at all but have a reservation when we wanted plus the option to make it earlier or later onboard.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

This is where we boarded and landed. We did spend a couple days prior to the cruise sightseeing. It was nice looking around, there are some shops and some restaurants we really enjoyed. But one day there was enough.

Cozumel, Mexico

We did the Jose Cuervo Tequila tour which we thoroughly enjoyed. There was a tequila tasting which was very informative and neat (even for me who is not much of a drinker). The tour guide gave a great tour incorporating information not only about tequila and how it is made, but also about the history of the peoples of Mexico which was also really interesting. I would recommend it. We also went on our own to the downtown market in a cab, we felt very safe. We walked around the shops and then caught a cab very easily back to the dock, just make sure you ask which dock you are at for your return.

Disembarkation

This was also super easy and went very smoothly. They could not have done anything better.
