Review summary

The biggest disappointment was no WiFi for so many days!! Especially when Princess Advertised, and we paid for, "best WiFi at sea". Production shows were quite good, wish there were more! Noise level of the bands in the central Piazza, 5th floor, was WAY, WAY too loud!!! When trying to relax and have a conversation at the 7th floor bar, it was impossible to hear your neighbor! So ridiculous to have such noise, it is probably to a level of hearing damage! Do OSHA rules apply on ships - they would never pass. Industrial factories are not allowed to have such noise levels! This noise on the fifth floor was so bad, it will discourage us from using Princess again. Oceania obviously doesn't have such noise levels, but even Royal Caribbean isn't so loud. Please fix this! Just try reducing it by half and see if anyone complains, I'm sure they won't, and you may avoid a lawsuit. The violin players from Ukraine were a welcome relief! We Liked the Ship engineers presentation very much! And we loved cooking demonstrations by Florian, head chef. He is a treasure!

Embarkation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
All the food and drink was top notch, except the Crown Grill New York strip was no better, if that, than the cowboy steak in Santorini.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Fitness center was clean and had a good selection of equipment, as well as a stretching and floor work room. Especially liked the rope pull machine! Sadly, there was no library, at least there could be a bookshelf somewhere!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Production shows were quite good. If you are looking for a good comedian, I have heard that Derek Tennant is quite good, and appeals to all audiences.

Children's Programs

Didn't bring any kids. Although probably the programs are quite good, because we hardly saw any kids!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Almost all the staff were quite good. Special appreciation for professional excellence to Marko, Serbia; Marchin, Poland; Brenda, Peru; Rocio, Peru; Kamal, at sushi bar and the nearby bar, India; Jobe, India (spelling? He worked the tables next to Rocio and Brenda in Santorini, and has a Frank Sinatra haircut); Agnes and Ade at such bar; Sijoe, India; Joemar, India; Abishek the wine sommelier, India; Armando, Philipines, room steward for D501 was quite good, he did everything perfectly and was never obtrusive. Sadly, there were a few less than acceptable staff: Marvin, Philippines, Sr waiter in Santorini, was abrupt and unpleasant to us, but what really grated was his abuse of his junior waiter, a woman from I think India - one night he yelled at her so loud that everyone looked even from 50 feet away; this was VERY unprofessional! Marvin also had a bad habit of reaching across our plates to do things - to the point where his sleeve brushed my nose!!! Isn't that a BASIC training for waiters? They should NEVER reach across a passengers plate or glass to set down a fork or anything. Several of the 16th deck buffet people did that too, so annoying to have to jerk one's head back when a waiter shoves his arm and shoulder abruptly across one's face! Also in Buffet: many of the staff look right at you and walk right at you, and MAKE you get out of the way, even when you are carrying coffee and a plate, and they are carrying nothing! Deepak, India; was the worst offender in this, but there were several who did this with NO respect or consideration for passengers! Final disturbing incident was in Buffet 16th deck, March 20, about 10 AM: Ronald, a male staff, grabbed Georgie, India, a tiny female staff, quite roughly, with several other male staff watching and laughing. She got away quickly, and we asked her immediately if she was alright, and she said yes, BUT this kind of horseplay should NEVER happen in todays world, and could easily result in a million dollar lawsuit if it happened in U.S. or Europe.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Entire ship was clean and nice. Some bigger signs by the elevators to indicate aft, starboard, etc would be very helpful.

Cabin / Stateroom

Very nice. Sliding glass door in C132 worked perfectly. We had to switch to D501 due to pitching the first night, thank you! But D501 had some horrible squeaks and grinding sounds from the sliding glass door area, and a noticeable gap on the left side of it, where the noise was coming from. Also, this door was ridiculously hard to open. I mean nearly impossible. Please fix! The bathroom sink faucet was too short, impossible to avoid touching the sides of the sink when rinsing hands, very unsanitary! And it would really help if the toilet paper roll were 1-2" closer to the door, very hard to reach! Try it!

Ship tip

Don't overpack, there is a lovely clean self service laundry room on every floor!
