Although older and smaller than other Royal ship’s, Empress of the Seas provides a great cruise experience. Wonderful crew and nice ports of call. Great deal!

We boarded the ship within 15 minutes including turning in paperwork and getting the obligatory photos.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Empress is a small ship with only one specialty restaurant, which was excellent. The food in the main dining room was great and windjammer has food for all tastes.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We participated in multiple trivia activities and napkin folding. There are numerous things to do throughout every day, or you can read, sunbathe or simply do nothing but relax.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The Empress had singers and dancers who were wonderful. They also had a featured dance couple who were incredibly talented. The ship’s orchestra was great and the talent brought onboard was very entertaining and enjoyable.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
We received fantastic service from all ship’s personnel. We felt like we were part of the family. They did a fantastic job assisting us with anything we needed.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Empress is an almost 30 year old ship which has been renovated over the years. It is well maintained and clean. It is really nice to be on a ship without 6,000 people. You got to meet more people and also talk to the ship’s officers.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The cabin was kept very clean by our great cabin steward. This is an inside cabin and is a little smaller than on larger ships. We were still comfortable and enjoyed the ship.
Ship tip
Remember that Empress is a smaller ship, but it is a ship with a big heart. The crew was fantastic , just remember to smile.😁😎
Havana is a good port to visit as long as you know the that you are visiting a controlled environment. We took the Cultural Havana excursion which lasted 7 hours and you were taken to cultural sites and artistic areas. We had lunch at the famous La Floridita restaurant where Ernest Hemingway used to hang out. We discussed with our tour guide the issues of rationing of food and the challenges the Cuban people are facing at this time. It was a good, thought provoking experience.
We landed at the International Dock which is 3 miles from the city center. We have been to Cozumel many times, so we shopped in the port area and then enjoyed margaritas and cheeseburgers at Margaritaville.
