Empress of the Seas

6 Night Bahamas & Havana (Miami Roundtrip)

Sail date: March 12, 2018

Ship: Empress of the Seas

Traveled as: Couple

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Review summary

This is an old ship that was dry docked prior to Cuba. The staff was wonderful and there was plenty to do. Spending the night in Havana would have been a bonus. Less time in Nassau. More time in Key West and Havana. Go while you can!

Embarkation

This was smooth. It took a little longer than usually, because everyone going to Cuba requires a Visa. They made this process easy

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5

Chops Grille

5 out of 5

The food and service in Chops was well worth the premium we paid. We chose to dine on a sea day. I was disappointed in our picture that was taken. The food choices and wine choices were great

Windjammer Café

3 out of 5

I am not a buffet person. The quality was adequate. There were lots of breakfast choices. I preferred ordering in a restaurant. The service was excellent. We even saw our assistant waiter there at breakfast. We have cruised on other lines. I felt Disney’s dining, hands down, was superior.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There is only one pool for so many guests. You had to get up early to find an ocean view on a lounge chair.

Casino Royale

My husband played in a blackjack tournament and enjoyed slots. They overpaid him and handled it professionally
