Review summary

We are glad we went to Cuba. It was educational for us. Everything went smooth, no problems. The Tropicana Club was our hi light of the trip. Key West was also nice., Everything there is business as usual. It was a great cruise. Empress of the Seas is a nice, comfortable and lovely ship.

Embarkation

Everything went smooth. The Royal Caribbean crew are experienced and professional. They have it down to a science.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was excellent in the dining room. Drinks were good.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We did not participate in any activities. Were too busy or tired going on excursions.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The cruise director was excellent. He could be a stand up comedian. The night time shows were entertaining and professionally done.

Children's Programs

We do not have small children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All of the service and staff were friendly, caring and professional. The dining room staff were excellent.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
It was simple and easy to get around the ship. From what I saw, everything was clean. They were always cleaning and polishing the common areas.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This ship, Empress of the Seas, is, I think, the smallest of their fleet, 1800 passengers. The room is small and so is the bathroom but it was comfortable and always clean. We were not in the room a lot so it does not matter to us the size of the room.

Ship tip

It is a small ship, 1800 passengers, easy to get around. We loved it because it was small and had no problem finding places on the ship. The entertainment was excellent and so was the food. The dress code is all casual. Very comfortable.

Ports of call

Tampa, Florida Did not visit port

We boarded the ship in Tampa. Did not have time to visit, before or after.

Key West, Florida

5 out of 5
Key West is up and running after the hurricanes. You would not know there was any damage. It is business as usual. We took the hop on/hop off trolley. Enjoyed it a lot.

HAVANA, CUBA

5 out of 5
We took 3 excursions in Havana. A 4 hr. bus tour of old and new Havana. The buses are clean, a/c and have toilets. The tour guides were excellent. Spoke English that you could understand. We went to the Tropicana club. That was the hi-light of our trip. Beautiful show, 2 hrs. We also took the 4 hr. walking tour. They were all educational and professional. Havana is time stood still.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
It is the same experience as embarkation. It all went smooth. They know what they are doing to speed up getting you off the ship without any problems.
