Excellent cruise. We were very excited to go to Havana, and the rest of the cruise was so nice and relaxing. The crew was amazing. It was so interesting learning about how these Cuba cruises came together and some of the obstacles they had to overcome. We hope to be able to go back and do one of the overnights in Havana.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Embarkation was good for the most part. The people working in the terminal seemed confused, but since we have done this many times before we just kind of ignored it.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
On this ship, we enjoyed eating in the Windjammer way more than main dining. Windjammer had so many more healthy options and the crew working up there was wonderful. Also, this ship does not have a Diamond Lounge, but they did two private events and obviously we could get our happy hour drinks at any of the bars onboard. We didn't feel like we missed out on not having the lounge, although we prefer the lounge.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
This ship has a pool, hot tubs, rock climbing, fitness room, casino, bars/lounges, theater. It does not have a Solarium, which we missed. We feel that the cruise director and his staff did a fantastic job of keeping everyone entertained even though the ship does not have many onboard activities.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We only saw one stage show, which was an Elton John impersonator who was great! The bands on the ship were really, really good. We thoroughly enjoyed the Cuban music in the lobby, the Latin band, the main band, even cruise director Carlos sang one evening in the lobby!
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
We always find the service on these smaller ships to be superior. This was no exception.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
This ship is small, but we think they did a really great job of utilizing the space they had. There were a lot of nice sitting areas facing windows and we enjoyed being able to sit out on the back of the ship.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Very small! We did not spend much time in here, it is just good for sleeping.
Ship tip
Don't go on this ship expecting to be constantly entertained. This is all about the ports of call (specifically Havana) and interacting with other guests and the crew. We met so many wonderful people on this cruise that we enjoyed talking to and running into constantly because there are not too many places to go. We also got to talk with many of the officers on the ship, which was a real treat.
We did the Old Havana Walking Tour. It was great because we got the guided tour, visited Revolution Plaza, visited a cigar shop and restaurant, and then also had time to walk around on our own. The ship provided everyone with a bottle of water, which was very much needed because it is very hot there.
This was the longest disembarkation we've ever experienced because everyone's passport had to be scanned. We are not sure if this is because of going to Cuba or if this is how it will always be. Luckily we were not in a hurry.
