Review summary

Our family really enjoyed exploring the Cuban culture. We would prefer the option of a Cuba-only trip, and explore the various cities within Cuba....

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Although the lines appeared quite long, they moved very quickly. We were able to begin enjoying our vacation much faster than anticipated.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Dinner was outstanding each night, and our table companions were great too!

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The variety of events was not comparable to other Royal Caribbean Cruises we have taken.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The musicians and DJs were great. However, the parties did not always occur as advertised.

Children's Programs

2 out of 5
There were limited onboard activities for teens.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Great!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
It was definitely an older ship. However, there were no problems related to cleanliness or safety concerns.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The size was as expected, and our daughter loved sleeping on the bunk bed.

Ship tip

Take other families with you, because there were a few times when there was nothing exciting to do.

Ports of call

Tampa, Florida Did not visit port

Key West, Florida

5 out of 5
Although we had been to Key West numerous times on our own, the tour gave an awesome historical perspective of Key West.

HAVANA, CUBA

5 out of 5
We absolutely loved Cuba. We chose the classic car excursion which allowed us to see the city without doing too much walking.

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
Not much to do in Cozumel.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Quick process!

We go in May, but absolutely want to do an individual P2P, not a ship excursion ("Group P2P"). From reading the Treasury Dept info on sanctions, especially pertaining to the changes announced by the administration on 6/16/17, (read the details in the "grandfather clause"), I think we're in the clear! Whew!

All of the excursions through RC satisfy the people to people requirement. Taking one will cover you for the entire time. If you don't do an excursion through the ship, you just have to keep records of who you talked to, where you went and what you did. They also suggest taking lots of pictures to document your time.

I've been reading a lot if comments from cruisers who just returned from Havana. The requirements the US puts on the cruiser of doing a people-to-people activity is very confusing. What did you do there to satisfy those requirements?
